POLL: Race and Linsanity - How is NY reacting to the news?

Hello, New York.
Basketball fans outside of multicultural cities were surprised by the story that was Linsanity when it first started. However, there's no denying that it was a global phenomenon. With such a multicultural city like New York I can't help but wonder how the three largest racial groups, amongst others, are reacting to the potential news that Lin may no longer be a Knick.
It might be interesting to learn more about the board's demographics and also find common ground in moving on past Lin within the thread. Please select the option below that you feel best describes you. I, of course, mean to not offend any one group or individual. We were interested in Toronto, too, so I find myself feeling for each and every Knick fan that feels hurt right now.

Whats been happening with polls on this board lately? Wheres the "STFU and GTFO" option? And im being serious. It used to be a defacto way of allowing a catchall none of the above option.

Where is the "I'm Asian-American and I wish everyone on the team could have gotten along and ignored the media BS " option?

It's just a simple poll. The fans are participating in it and the view count suggests that others are also interested in how the most diverse city in the North America is handling the news. It's certainly not a troll posting, Moocow007. Not sure what the problem is.

While I opened a poll earlier and wanted to support my fellow pollsters, I simply cannot support this poll out of principle.
My principle is to "never talk about race in a forum"~

The last two options are for you then. One can't list every race or ethnicity. The most populous races in New York were listed 1-3 with another, "I'm not represented" option at the end.

On this board we're supposed to pretend race couldn't possibly have any bearing on the situation with Lin.

i do think we should have retained him but i feel like we can contend without him if we get a few breaks along the way. don't really know what to vote for.
edit: coming from an african american if you feel like that's relevant.

It's as impossible to ignore the role that race played in the Lin story as it would be include the money he made for the Knicks. It's part of the story and it's the story that caused the headlines and all the jersey sales. The numbers he put on a basketball court this year over 30 games weren't historic. They weren't better than Chris Paul's or Steve Nash's. He didn't lead the Knicks to a Championship. There was no guarantee that it would continue into next year (See Darren Collison's career year backing up CP3 for evidence of how quickly things can change) and yet he was a global phenom. He was a global phenom because he connected to people around the world due to his underdog story and race played a part in every underdog story ever written about him.
This poll isn't controversial or offensive in the least. Any poll any American takes over the phone asks for demographic information. CNN broke down demographic information right down to color of car during the last election. These are questions we answer on forms on a regular basis. There's no generalizing. There's no leading questions. Every response option is the same. It's simply a poll for curiosity sake.

Im not understanding what race has to do with anything. Im black, and as a fan, I wanted Lin back, if for any other reason to average out old players with fresh young legs. Shump is the youngest player on the team and probably wont play til after the break. If we have an injury bug its gonna get ugly. Kidd, Camby etc dont heal as fast as they used to.
Lin back was a breath of fresh air. Players I think we could have traded Lin for:
CP3. Not resigned. Lin and Blake would sell crazy for that city
Rondo. Ainge is not sold on Rondo like the rest of the world. Lin went to Harvard in Boston
Brandon Jennings. Bucks would do it to sell tickets

This is a topic I'd prefer to not touch, not even with a 10ft pole. But there is a Black contingent out there that for whatever reason is especially dismissive of Lin. There I said it.

Im actually serious about polls on this board always literally having a "STFU & GTFO" option. Has nothing to do with trolling or worrying about it. Its actually not a bad poll.
