David Lee

Watching last nights game, and throughout the season so far, rebounding has been a problem for our team. With all the talk about how Amare may or may not fit in, wouldn't it be nice to add David Lee to this team. A guy who gives it all on the glass and gets 2nd chance points and gets to the foul line. Can also hit the mid range jumper. Bad defender but when you play him next to Chandler/Camby/Sheed it's less on an issue.

Aaron Afflalo would also be a nice fit for this team. 3 and D SG/SF who's entering his prime. Career 40% shooter from 3 and gets better every year.

Here's a trade idea. First the Knicks send Amare Stoudemire to Golden State for David Lee and Richard Jefferson. This is a deal that saves Golden State money long term and could provide a markting boost short term. If healthy, Andrew Bogut and Amare Stoudemire make a nice combo at the 4-5 and teamed with shooters like Curry, Barnes and Thompson they could be very competitive. But the deal is about saving money.

I think the NBA has a rule where a player can be traded within the first 72 hours of a trade but then is restricted after. This is how Rasheed Wallace was traded from POR to ATL and then DET. In this scenario, the Knicks would immediately trade Richard Jefferson along with Chris Copeland and James White to the Magic for Aaron Afflalo and Al Harrington. This move saves ORL a ton of cap space long term as Jefferson's contract is 2 years shorter than both Afflalo and Harrington. It also saves them money short term.

The Knicks get 3 guys who can play while only taking on one year of additional salary. I like our team a lot, but think were a few pieces away. Adding David Lee, Aaron Afflalo and Al Harrington makes us that much better. Lee can either start or come off the bench and will help our rebounding problems right away. Afflalo could start at SG, help limit Jason Kidd's minutes, and give the team a consistent 3pt shooter in the backcourt. Harrington will fill the role of scorer in the front court when Melo rests and/or gets in foul trouble. Can also give minutes as a stretch 4. Local kid who will love the opportunity to play on a contender in MSG.

Chandler/Camby/Wallace
Anthony/Lee/Thomas
Brewer/Harrington/Novak
Afflalo/Smith/Shumpert
Felton/Kidd/Prigioni

Afflalo for Jefferson? Orlando laughs and hangs up the phone. He's their best player.

Amare is going nowhere and David Lee has no place here.

They send Grunweld straight to voicemail

any deal not involving Shumpert is a no no for any team

I could see Dallas taking Stoudemire if the knees check out but then again why give him up

18/9 on 55% with solid D in about 25-28 minutes is all we need from STAT

Nah...David Lee is really not the type of PF I'd want going forward. Some seriously underrate Stoudemire....if used correctly he'll elevate this team in ways that Lee simply can't...

The Magic basically traded Dwight for Afflalo and scraps. You're suggesting they trade Afflalo for Richard Jefferson and 2 guys who wouldn't be in the NBA if NY hadn't signed them. Basically like they traded Dwight for Richard FREAKING Jefferson and scraps.

Think about that.

Btw, AAA is one of my favorite players in the NBA. I always thought he's the ideal 3rd option on a championship team. Shumpert does have the potential to be better than him, although I don't think he'll ever develop the 3 point shot of Afflalo (not that Shump's a bad shooter, he's not).

STAT put up 17.8 and 7.8 in almost 33 minutes last year. You want him to put up better numbers in less playing time??? I mean it's possible with the better PGs and ball movement, but I really would be content with 15-7 on 50+% shooting in like 25-28 minutes from him. As long as those #s don't come at expense of the team. I mean if he comes back and the offense looks stagnant, the defense looks worse and/or we start to lose.... I don't know man, I don't know.

we're calling for the return of the most self-serving statistical player ever to don a knicks uniform? word?

there will be a new david lee thread saying the exact same thing once per year, won't there?

Dont think GSW wants anything to do with Amare . lol Amare and Bogut......thats a walking fractured leg right there. Not to mention that Amare has shown to lose effectiveness when paired with a paint hogging, no outside game big man.

While we are it , how about this deal :
Knicks Send:
Chris Copeland, Cash consideration, classified US government documents and two tickets to disneyland

Beijing Ducks send: Stephon Marbury

Followed by this three team deal

Knicks send: Steve Novak, james white, pablo prigioni, 2nd round pick

Lakers send: Chris Duhon ( to knicks) recieve: novak, white.

Bulls recieve: Prig Send: Nate Robinson.

Bring every body back. Hire Isaiah!

David Lee plays no D whatsoever. At least Amare will get you the occasional timely blocks. Neither are good at D so i'm going to pass.

As far as rebounding is concerned, David Lee's rebounds are fool's gold. He's a stat padder and does not box out.

The player that would fit in despite the poor D is Z-Bo, but we all know that's not happening.

We would have to find a young player who needs a change of scenery and develop him if we want a replacement for Amare.

are we losing the rebounding game because of chandlers ability to bat the ball to his players or does that count as a rebound?

I don't get a lot of these trade scenarios to begin with.

This team has been together for 7 games, and they've won six of them.

What is this fascination with tinkering? Why not give these guys 20 games and see where they are at that point before dealing out guys?

This board assumes that Stat is not going to work out, but you're willing to take a flyer on guys like Lee and Harrington - whose faults we're all familiar with already.

What if we bring them in and they don't work with this team?

It's like some of you forget who Amare Stoudemire is.

When he comes back he'll be an actual PF playing PF. Melo slides to the 3. Melo still picks up 6-7 boards, Amare picks up 8, Chandler doesn't have to roam as much because there's a second shotblocker in there. His boards go up.

Boom - we're fine.

I'm telling you - the concern is how to space these guys on the other end. Amare will buy in on D and be in a role that he can manage with Kidd and Chandler calling out covers.

Anyway, **** no on trading him for Lee. Jesus.

No. Try again. The only thing David Lee has over Amare is rebounding. On D, Amare can have a good defensive play or two in a game. Then he'll forget how to play D for most of the game. David Lee? None.
