OT: Lin thinks Dolan decision not personal

Despite sources claiming otherwise, Lin still doesn't believe Dolan made the decision a personal one. "Allan Houston was the one who called me afterward," Lin said of the Knicks' former star and current executive, "and he was like, 'Man, best of luck, keep in touch, and if there's anything you need, I've got you.' That was more like a friends phone call than a player-to-assistant-GM phone call. I honestly don't think [Dolan] was mad at me. It just came down to the numbers and the luxury tax."

Maybe it was because of the dollars and cents, but still, we should have kept him and flipped him later on if he wasn't part of the plans. Good to know H20 is a classy dude, can't wait for him to be GM.

No disrespect, but that article wasn't even remotely about the thread title.

There is alot of solid pieces in there, I'd encourage folks to read the article ignore the thread title.

Well most of it was just causing controversy between him and Felton, some about D'Antoni, some about his injury, all things that would get this thread closed. Just trying to keep it civil in here.

Lin is just being diplomatic. I think there could have been a personal element involved.

I saw, never denied there was discussion.

Lin never was afforded the chance to sign that first offer, and even stated in his own words there was only one deal to sign.

Lin contradicts himself alot, wish he'd just be quiet.

This was his original quote of the offers...

"It wasn’t like they gave me the choice to sign one of the two and I chose the one that would hurt the Knicks. I had one contract offer. That was it.”

There it is. He knew about both offers. His agent went and got a new better deal.
Glad we dodged that bullet. Glad also the Lin groupies are nowhere to be seen I wonder why.

i don't even really care, it all worked out anyway.

he won't stop talking about us though because that was a special moment for him. he's just another player now. that very well could be the highlight of his career.

It's never personal in business. Only the NY media and Lin fanboys want you to believe it is.

Isn't one of the ten commandments is "Thou shall not Lie." Lin better go to confession.

yup.

there is no way landry ever sniffs that contract again. He might not even be in the league before his contract is over.

Lin on the other hand is at worst a backup pg. If barea can make 5mil a year, lin makes that easy even if he ends up being a 10/6 guy.

Looking back now and considering how he is playing so far this year, the wise move would have been to take the 4 year deal without the balloon payment. He'll get a minimum contract for his 4th year if he does not improve.

Look, Lin did what was best for him. Went to a place where he could make mistakes, learn and develop. In the meantime, the Knicks got a better fit with Raymond Felton. It was handled poorly but worked out for the best.
