OT: 27 Killed, 18 elementary school students shot dead CON

NEWTOWN, Conn. -- A lone gunman killed 27 people at an elementary school here, including 18 children, in a terrifying early Friday morning shooting spree.
The Associated Press and local media reported the shooter, an unidentified adult male, was also dead. Two handguns were recovered at the scene. Mayor Mark Boughton said several victims had been taken to local hospitals.
Groups of students — some crying, some holding hands — were being escorted away from the school by their teachers. Some witnesses reported of up to 100 shots being fired.

This world is so messed up. I'm sick right now. I live 20-25 minutes from the school and I drove by it everyday when I went to visit my girlfriend at Western Connecticut. This is sick.

When I heard this my eyes actually welled up with tears... so sad, I can't help but hurt for the families and people of that town. I'm not a religious guy but I'm keeping them in my thoughts.

Horrifying doesn't even begin to describe this. As a father of 3 young kids, I can't even express what those poor parents must be going through. You drop your kid off at school one day like any other day and then boom, your life as you know it is over and will never be the same.

yeah this is just f'd up...the elementary school is 15 minutes from where I work. Everyone is just standing by a TV. A couple co-workers have children and/or spouses that work there.
Just disgusting!

What the hell is happening? Before the Columbine shootings, I hadn't heard of such an attrocity. Then, it happened a couple more times, and now it seems to be happening all the time. It's like these sick individuals are walking timebombs. What is causing this? So crazy... so sad... I am truly sorry for those affected. Words cannot describe the sorrow I am feeling...

It typically gets the most media attention when it happens in the USA.... there are alot of places that it happens that don't get any attention, Africa, Asia, South America.... it's just when it happens in the media frenzy capital of the world it gets splashed across the world on TV and the internet. Political? Try telling that to the parent who just lost a child in this incident. Try telling that to next parent who loses a child because no one is doing anything about this. This is not political. This is reality. You tell me, when is the right time to talk about this? How many more people have to die at the hands of lunatics in possession of assault weapons?
