the nets are a good team they go 10 deep, they have size, they have stars, they have to be watched out for

They will go as far as Deron takes them though... and he's looking much better lately. JJ is no real star (though my fantasy team is enjoying his turnaround).

Nets are on a 7 game winning streak and really seem to have matured as a team quickly. Looks like Josh Smith is out, so easy win for the Nets.

Catch me up.. are we still saying that Deron Williams is fat and sucks? I just want to know where my Knicks brethren sit so I look like I know what I'm talking about.

i never said that but actually joe johnson has been the one playing better. part of this is also the surge a team gets after a coach is fired.

There is only a surge in play when a team not named the Knicks is concerned right? Last years 18-6 record when Woodson took over had nothing to do with a surge... because I could've sworn I was the only one who brought up that point last year with a few scattered people who agreed.

I'm pretty certain Johnson's good play has at least a smidgen to do with something the point guard is doing well or differently.

His Jan numbers are bomber... which would give support to any of the following theories:

1. He was fat and has since gotten into playing shape,
2. He was injured and has since healed
3. He was dogging it for Avery
4. Random **** slump

Or any combination of the four.

The theory it does not support would be:

1. Deron Williams is done

Hope this helps.

A little bit of 4... a little bit of 2... maybe some of 3..

Definitely not 1 because he looks the exact same as he always has.

But I thank you kind sir for brushing up my "Knicks fans" talking points when concerning Deron "Big Mac" Williams.

Eh. I thought he looked a lil' chubby as I thought Melo did last year. Certainly not the "50 lbs" one guy was saying. But a lil'. A few things going on for sure. But the "done" talk was silly.

I didn't see it... and if he did put on a few pounds he must have a very slow metabolism.. I mean he played in Turkey during the lockout, London, and went right into training camp. But then again I never thought Carmelo was overweight either. Guys get bigger when they get older.. generally speaking.. unless they have a tapeworm or a freakishly fast metabolism like Reggie Miller does.

Not overweight... but just a few pounds at this level makes a difference. Heck, I even notice rock climbing when I have just 2-5 more pounds that I shouldn't. You don't think Melo looks thinner this year? I really do. Prolly less muscle mass as well as I think the plan was to get him a bit quicker and ultimately play the 3.

Guys just do have different metabolisms though. I could never believe how big dudes like Tractor Traylor and Sweetney got. I couldn't balloon like that if I tried and I'm not doing half the work they are (though also definitely not eating like a pro either.

I think he said he was lighter this year... what I'm saying is that I don't think the extra weight affected him negatively. I've played with a ton of bigger guys who can run all day... you would think they would slim down a bit running that much.. but they didn't.
