Metta's deal is for $1.6 mil per year, source confirms. #Knicks used remainder of mini mid level exception to sign Metta.

That's terrible though.

Im not exactly sure why we would give up the rest of the MMLE here on Metta. Maybe the only way we could sign him to a two year deal is by using the MMLE? Are you allowed to sign a player for more then a year on the vet minimum?

Why did we sign him to part of the MMLE? Doesn't he get paid pretty much the same amount regardless of which team is paying him? Or did Artest insist on this to save the Lakers money? If so, this is not good.

can't we give him a 25% raise in year to?

So the league minimum would be 1.4 million and we could give him a 25% raise in year to to make his salary 1.75 or 1.8 million equaling a 2 year 3.2 million dollar contract.

keeping our remaining MMLE $

Year 2 is a player option and mere security in case he gets seriously hurt this season. He will almost certainly opt out.

We seriously have people bitching about giving him $1.5 mil instead of $1.4 mil? Again, proving the theory that some people aren't happy unless they have something to be unhappy about.

I hope that's not true.

One has nothing to do with the other.

Blatche is purposely screwing the Wiz and AK47 might be investigated.

Walsh might be the better talker, but Grunnie is the silent assassin with the legal background, CBA knowledge from front to back, and salary cap expertise.

Walsh is overrated. He the same idiot that put is in the situation were in now by signing Amare to an unguaranteed contract and using the amnesty on Chancey for Tyson. I hate Walsh.

1. I think you mean uninsured contract for Amare

2. Grunnie amnestied Billups for Tyson

I did mean uninsured my bad. Also Im pretty sure Donnie was still in charge when he amnestied billups. He was deff the one the picked up the option on billups contract before we ended up amnestying him anyways.

Do you have a link on AK47 investigation? It seems so fishy. Like Teletubby.

I did the math. I did not take into account that the 2nd year of the remainder of our MMLE would have more to offer than signing a 2 year deal for the league minimum.

Yeah, but what you don't know is that Ron has agreed to a two year deal to cover Kenyon Martin & Delonte West's psychiatry bills.

Nope, the amnesty was 100% Grunnie.

Donnie did pick up Billups' option, but that was the right move at the time, since not doing it would leave us with no PG and still cost us $4M of cap

I think the confusion in contract is coming from the fact that the vetmin for MWP is $1.6mil and the rest of the mMLE is $1.7ymil so it's easy to see why the idea of a 2yr $3.2mil deal is being mistaken for the rest of the mMLE. I bet it's not but the dif between the two is only 100k and I think it probably would be more of an issue to Martin and his ego than MWP so I hope it is still available for Martin since the Knicks still need a veteran rebounder defender who can play the 4 and 5.

The end result was Billups leaving anyway, don't see how it was the right move.
