He's a below average 2 guard and a decent rotation player at best. He has shown little to no improvement since his rookie year and has regressed as a shooter. His ball-handling is terrible and defensively has been as bad as everyone on this team. Going 0'fer on the stat sheet in 20 plus minutes of play is inexcusable for a NBA player, never mind a starter. Trade rumors don't create terrible play on that level.

He's a player who rides high on the emotions of the game. He embodies that NY attitude. Problem with that is, he feels betrayed by this team, this coach, this ownership...he looks unwanted and disinterested. He's not the same...it's time to part ways.

He has regressed...that's the situation. If he was still playing D like he had in his past, we'd still have something that could command value.

I know its not a excuse but how would you feel wen ur coach is constantly on ur ass for the smallest things but lets guys like Jr smith chuck away.... not to mentioned he hears he will be traded every single second last couple of weeks.... The guy has lost his swagger and confidence no thanks to the coach and owner

Shump was way overhyped as a rookie, failed to live up to the superstar expectations right away and now people are disappointed.

He can still be a solid player and the kind of player you want on your team, but everyone looks bad in a poorly coached trade rumor filled toxic environment like this. He's being put in a position to fail.

Its the typical cycle of a young player on the Knicks. Next step is that he will be traded for scraps, he will find a role somewhere else, and people will regret that we gave him away. The same damn things happen with this team over and over and over and over.

I agree with this for the most part.

I thought Shump had been playing fairly well this season. He had been hitting the boards really well and had some energy that was missing.

If we had this Shump last year, to go with the stability and shooting, we would have been a much better team.

Shump is not a player who is good enough to pull us out of this funk, so people are turning on him. He will be a good role player in this league.

Kid needs a better coach. He'll probably get traded now and if he gets a better situation he'll probably play better. He's no star, but a good organization should be able to make him a solid part of a winning team.

not that woodson shouldn't go but how does that connect ?

Boy we really do turn quickly on our players,,typical New York fan base. As I recall everyone was hyped over this kid as a rookie and excited about his return year 2, with his improved jumper.

Now he's had a bad start and the entire Knicks misfortunes are his fault. Now he's not even worth an empty can of tuna fish. Dam.
