ESPN: Knicks and Clips mulling Blake for Melo swap

Post#1 » by BowlRips » Sat Jan 4, 2014 5:37 am

Chris Broussard saying that Knicks and Clips both internally discussing trading Melo for Blake but the teams have yet to speak to each other. Both teams aren't sure they'd make the deal

This is interesting. I can imagine if the knicks don't turn the ship around before the trade deadline they'll have a nice talk with melo and see where his heads at. It's good to see that Knicks management is necessarily all caught up with retaining melo at all costs.

Right now I don't know if I can see the clips making this deal. I think the difference will be if the Knicks throw in Tyson Chandler in the deal as he would be really a missing piece for the Clippers. You'd have to think a clippers team of cp3, redick, Dudley, melo and Tyson is championship material.

Knicks acquiring Blake is interesting too. For a whole he was considered overrated but it seems he has risen his game. Is he a franchise player? Looks like it and he's real young.

Id probably try to move Blake in a 3 way to a team who'd be willing to give us a full complimentary of picks and cap space. Maybe an opportunity to recover some picks in this draft, clear the books completely for 2015 and really go for a quick rebuild.

All I know is the knicks next 4 weeks will be critical for the future of the franchise. Their play the last 2 games is improved but we need it to translate it to wins ASAP. If not things will be crazy at the trade deadline

I'd do it if Melo wants to walk.

I would rather take this deal and run than risk Melo leaving even if we offer 5 years, $130 million. I would be shocked if the Clippers would do this deal when they can maybe get Melo for a combination of role players in a sign and trade.

IMO this wouldn't be happening without Paul"s and Melo's blessing.

Wants to and will are very different things.

You can call his bluff and tell him to go sign with the lakers if he'd like or come back. I don't think he would realistically consider the lakers and leave the money on the table in New York

I don't want Blake unless it comes with CP3. Blake needs a PG that can throw lobs so he can do the only thing he can do, Dunk. We don't have a PG.
Make the Knicks great again!

Do it -- then sit JR for good and let Shumpert and Blake play a lot of 2-man game.

Rondo - Shump - Blake core.

Knicks would be smart to trade Blake. I don't see how keeping him on this squad makes much sense .

And I don't see how clips make this deal without Tyson involved

Blake would be sent to die here if that deal gets done.

I'm not sure how the Clips can give us enough salary back if we were to give them Melo and Tyson. Jordan+ would have to come back with Blake I would think? I guess it could be worse then starting over again with Jordan/Griffin. I would look to move either/both though along with Felton/JR for cap space/2014 picks/etc.
All-Time Draft

PG- Oscar Robertson/Bob Cousy
SG- Earl Monroe/James Harden/Dana Barros
SF- Billy Cunningham/Michael Finley/Chet Walker
PF- Elvin Hayes/Dolph Schayes/Tom Chambers/Danny Manning
C- Walt Bellamy/Neil Johnston/Darryl Dawkins

Send Blake to phx for markieff Morris and 2 first rounders

Send deandre and jr smith to Dallas for Shane Larkin and a first rounder

Would have 55 mil in cap space in 2015 with shumpert, hardaway, Larkin and a few first rounders

Hell yeah I'd do it! Melo and Beno for Blake, Dudley and a future first. Then deal that future 1st, Amare plus their 2018 first to Boston for Rondo and Gerald Wallace...

Blake
Dudley
Chandler
Rondo
Shump
Bargs
JR (his bum ass)
Timmy Jr.
Pablo
Murry

I can roll with this young squad. Then after the season, FIRE WOODSON. Cause you know once Melo leaves, Woody is a GONER!
