Knicks thinking unthinkable with excelling Bargnani: a return?

According to an NBA source, Jackson still is a fan and has interest in bringing Bargnani back for the right price because of his length, post defense and ability to score and pass in the structured system. Bargnani’s market value is one of the great mysteries of the summer, pending how he finishes the final 21 games.

Jackson has no power forward or center under contract for next season and a one-year deal is not out of the question. Bargnani’s burdensome contract, which pays him $11.5 million this season, expires July 1. Before he returned Feb. 9 in Miami, there was speculation whether any NBA team would offer him even a minimum deal.

“He’s for sure going to get — at least — a one-year minimum deal,’’ one NBA executive told The Post.
It doesn’t hurt Bargnani’s agent in the influential Leon Rose, who also reps Carmelo Anthony.

“He’s too much of a specialist,’’ one league personnel director said. “He’s been healthy too small of a period. I could see him as a minimum guy with low risk to a team on a short-term deal.’’

Well, at the right price for one year why not.

I wouldn't be against this. But anything above 2 mil is not worth it. This fool gets hurt all the damn time, and who the hell knows how motivated he will be if it's a multi-year deal.

Max I give him is 2 mil a year, on a one year deal. Nothing more.

I hate Bargs so much. I hope he goes to Brooklyn, Miami or Indy and takes his losing curse with him

Bargnani is a very good post defender. He's just a terrible everything else defender.

One year for the minimum? I can live with that. We will need cheap talent and Bargs will be playing for a contract commensurate with his dependability.

Anything beyond one year? Not interested.

I dunno. When I think of Bargs I think of one thing:

Knicks Division Champs
Raptors suck

Knicks get Bargs

Raptors Division Champs
Knicks suck, then become the worst team in the league.

I will call this science. Bargs = the worst

Wasn’t there a year wherein some advanced stats showed that Bargs was the second best rim protector in the league next to Larry Sanders?

As I said in another thread though… when thinking about re-signing Andrea Bargnani, consider that you are only likely to see him in Godnani mode for a third of a season. The remaining two-thirds he would either be injured or be unproductive.

It's not even just his sh*t defense. He shoots those line drive 3's that fly off the rim and produce fast breaks for the opposing team. Even on offense he gives up points

yes, bargs is a pretty good low post 1 on 1 defender. we all remember the game, where he basically shut down dwight howard..

but, he is so terrible with help defense, it makes amare look like dikembe mutombo

on a one year deal for the vet min? ok, i could live with that. but anything else, especially a longer contract, HELL NO!

It's a no brainer. Bargnani as a backup center would be a nice pickup.

What!? You guys don't want to see a lineup of Okafor/Bargnani/Melo/THJr/Calderon play team defense!?

For the love of fu*king god, I hope this is just an unsubstantial rumor & it dies away. I don't want him back at even the vet min.

LOL @ too much of a specialist.

At what exactly? He doesn't excel in ONE category.
