Thank you! Now we should remove free agents from the trade idea thread too.
Carrying on from the last thread, hopefully we are balls deep in Aldridge after the prom.

ill start the new one off with asking people for their pitch to LMA tomorrow afternoon
apparently the Lakers go first followed by everyone under the sun
We go last, which may or may not help
my pitch:
full max of 22 with the player option and all that crap
play with superstar Melo
play under Phil
play in NYC with all the spotlight, all star guarantees, massive increase to brand, etc
we stretch Calderon to gain 5 mil, the cap is going up 1-2 mil and we have 7 mil after the LMA max
in a perfect world thats 14 Mil
I suggest we spend that on Monroe who, with his low post presence and passing, will give us an amazing 1-2-3 punch inside with LMA and Melo
add shooters and defenders and penetrators to the perimeter
and hustle players inside
challenge for the east in year 1, add major players next year and every year after
alternately add Mathews at 12 and West at 2

Melo, LMA and Monroe? Yikes. I don't know, NLR. It'd be a fun team to watch tho.

Phil needs to pitch him on possibly playing with Deandre Jordan.

According to an NBA executive, Jackson’s recruiting strategy is to home in on selling the game and winning — not outside business ventures found in Manhattan. Jackson does not want to repeat the same mistake made by the Knicks in 2010, when they last enjoyed enormous cap space.
The organization got so caught up in selling free agents such as LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on New York being the haven to expand their celebrity and brand, the club forgot about the basics — winning.

So we have interest in Wade? Good. Might take a guy like Wade along with Melo to dethrone Lebron in the ECF.
Rather overpay for Wade than be stuck with Affalo. You make the Affalo move when you have a roster and he's another piece. Not as the major piece to build around.

Not sure if this was posted, but the Knicks have interest in Patrick Beverley.
The Knicks have made signing a big man (possibly Detroit’s Greg Monroe) a priority in free agency this summer. However, they will still have an issue to work out in their backcourt — they would like to be rid of Jose Calderon, and will give Langston Galloway, one of the few bright spots on the team last year, a chance to earn more playing time going forward. One potential answer for their guard woes: Rockets free agent Patrick Beverley. A source told Sporting News at the opening of free agency that the Knicks have “major interest” in Beverley, and that the interest is mutual. The Knicks contacted Beverley shortly after free agency began.

DAJ's max contract is the same as LMA's: 83/4. Clippers can offer 108/5.
I'm not a fan of him at that price at all.
Monroe's max is 70/4.

i think we need to consider health when adding a player
its fine to add a guy who can win but a guy who can stay healthy and win is even better
DeAndre Jordan missed no games practically in his career
Monroe has been mostly healthy
Affalo missed some last year but has been pretty healthy
Wade, not so much
Mathews is an iron man but you have to be concerned about that tendon
Rolo traditionally healthy
West is getting old so is a danger in that sense

im not able to justify that either
Monroe and Jordan together, if we could afford that, would be a hell of a combo though

Since Monroe plans to opt-out to get some of the new tv money, he can help the Knicks with cap space to bring in more player now and get back what he lost next summer.

Corey Brewer would be a really good signing. Plays hard, mad man in transition, and plays good D

You would have zero spacing since Jordan and Monroe can't shoot. It would be a repeat of the Detroit front court issue.
