Hip Hop thread III: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1132306#start_here

Controversy or no controversy, Langley is so gung ho about the film that her studio is planning on doing something nobody in the rap world thought was possible — reuniting N.W.A for a European tour to promote the movie, with Eminem (who performs on the film's soundtrack, along with Dre and Kendrick Lamar) sitting in as an honorary member. "We don't have anything settled yet with everyone's schedules," she says. "But we think it can create a lot of buzz."

After the lights finally flicker back on in the photo studio, Dre marvels about the past, about where he comes from and how remarkably far his music has traveled. "We were just trying to entertain our neighborhood, just us trying to be hood stars," he says. "It just became something that was much, much bigger than we ever thought, than I ever imagined."

I guess Kendrick has his own thing going but his voice and west coast connection would make him a better fit imo. Still a new NWA tour would be pretty cool.

Not that many people can keep up with Nino though. Bishop is getting great fast. He's still only 18 and improving fast.

Re: Drake - the way I feel about it is that Drake's been pretty open about working with other guys and he has a whole OVO team that he said helps him perfect his songs. He's the Shakespeare of rap. Now I don't believe Drake completely ripped his verse but I could be wrong idk. Just hard for me to see why an artist who's whole image is based off being open letting someone write his words and themes for him and basically tell Drake's story without any of his input.

I was gonna say, this is a great shot to get out of their shadows. Ab-Soul and K dot get the lyricism credit. Schoolboy has earned a nice push with a really strong album last year (best he's dropped) and Jay Rock has kinda become the guy with great features and verses on the posse cuts. He shouldn't be an after thought, that whole squad is monsters.

Yep. Money Trees pt 2 & Gumbo are two really dope songs. He's the veteran in TDE... everyone was once his hypeman or came through under him.

I think Jay Rock will release his album first, then Soul, and then Q will finally release his second album.... then SZA & Isaiah Rashad.
