Knicks will go after players who fit triangle

It’s all about the triangle.
“It shouldn’t be a balance (between finding players to fit a system and building a system around the players). It’s whatever decision you want to make,” Kurt Rambis said. “The decision with management is to get players who fit into the system. Neither way is wrong. It’s about your mindset and what you want to do. And I think the whole process has been to get players who we feel will fit into the system. No team stays pat except the exceptional teams. Everybody is trying to improve and find ways to get better. Naturally, we’ll be one of those teams.”
Many NBA teams work vice versa and build a system around its players, with the Spurs’ evolution serving as a shining example. For the Heat to be successful with LeBron James, it required a system change from Erik Spoelstra to fit the personnel.
But the talk lately from Rambis has indicated the Knicks are locked into the triangle, a system that may prove a tough sell in free agency. Of course, Rambis’ own future in New York is tenuous by definition as the interim coach.
“I think I’ve got good communication with the players. They understand what I want,” said Rambis, who has a good chance to land the permanent gig as Jackson’s preferred choice and friend. “We’re not anywhere near where I would like them to be in terms of how we function at either end of the court. But we are moving in that direction. Getting up and playing the aggressive defense that I would like them to play. But again, that takes practice time, competive scrimmages. We haven’t had enough of those.”

honestly what player does that mean we will no longer go after.
If it means we wont go after that empty stat loser Rondo then I am all for it.

Incoming over reactions to something that literally every team does. Look for players who fit with the current roster and philosphy....

if we're going off last summer it means seraphin(after we already signed a million bigs) instead of lin, shved or any other guard.
i guess it would be something like jared sullinger over evan turner at the same price this year.

I guess when Rambis says this I think,
1) Grant is not where you want him to be, but how can he even get there if he doesn't play at all ?
or
2) since he plays Sasha , is sasha where he doesn't want him to be yet??
Is there a Super Saiyan 4 level version of SASHA VUJAVIC we havent seen yet ??
..
I just don't get when the Knicks or other coaches I guess blame not enough practice..
I mean you are a basketball team.. what ELSE DO YOU DO!??!!!
*explodes into thin air*

I disagree. Seraphin was signed because no one including every fan on this board knew what KP was going to give us year 1. I think Phil saw Calderon/Grant AA/Gallo as a decent 4 man rotation at guard. At the time Melo and the team wanted him strictly to play the 3. So there were a ton of minutes at the 4 which needed to be distributed.
KP's yearly development basically eliminated any chance of Seraphin playing which was a good thing but it was hard to determine how much KP was going to play and help early.

Maybe they can get a time machine or some sort of genetic re-engineering machine and get themselves a new Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan?

Seriously though basically they need some of the best players in the NBA. Those types will fit any system.

Well if Rambis is the coach, of course they'll do that. I couldn't see him saying otherwise. I'm more bothered that he's talking like he's got the job locked up than that he wants triangle players...he runs the damned triangle.
This tidbit is more important to me though,
“For the most part of the offseason I’ll be in New York, working out here, and I know we have great coaches. Kurt. Phil. To learn from those guys is going to be fun for me, especially my first offseason,” Porzingis said. “No. 1 is for the team for me, always. Obviously I want to represent my country; I want to represent Latvia. But I got to be smart about it. I have to listen to people who are important.”

we had dwill, koq, and lance all getting minutes at the 4 even if you completely eliminate melo and kp's minutes. he was always going to have to completely beat out kyle if he wanted to get consistent minutes. **** like lou randomly getting minutes made it even worse.

absolutely agree. But when I look at all the top players they will fit into the system. I don't know see many players it would exclude.
Outside of a ball dominant point guard like Rondo.
Conley fits (question for everyone do we want to pay him)
Batum and Derozan fit (best two guards available)
Durant absolutely fits
The question is do they want to come to NY and play with a 30 win team that might continue to get better with KP's development.
