he had slow bat speed, by all accounts alonso has good bat speed.

but then again bat speed isn't a thing for you, it's too advanced for you.

I'm just busting balls. I hope they bring Alonso up soon. But, unfortunately, our FO appears to have other ideas (like having Jay Bruce play 1B :noway: )

I have no idea who these guys are.

Off RealGM baseball WT

The New York Mets are looking for a full-time general manager and are reportedly considering a number of candidates.

Toronto Blue Jays assistant GM Tony LaCava and vice president of baseball operations Ben Cherington are on the short list.

The Mets are also interested in Bobby Heck, a special assistant for the Tampa Bay Rays.

it's PATHETIC that alonso hasn't been called up, they're afraid he does good and get negative press next year when jay bruce is the teams 1b.

When the reports of Bruce/Cespedes flirting at first, it told you everything you needed to know about how warped this front offices thinking is. Hell even Rosario was called up by now last year, there's zero reason for Alonso not to be the starter for every game down the stretch.

Then again Vladimir Guerro JR hasn't been called up so...

mets farm now ranked 19th, and in my opinion might be in the top 10-15 range all because of one man.

This thread gave me a headache.

First of all people overarate this whole analytics concept.

Sandy wasn't analytical conceptionaly.

He liked Lugo's curveball spin rate in the minors when he was a non-prospect.

Nice work.

Other than that what can anyone tell me he did that was analytical?

This was "Mets analytics":

"We have only x to offer players in FA

Let's wait til January when players need jobs and pounce to get a fair market deal."

That's not team building that's coupon saving crap and they are getting what they deserve

the decision between deciding who to keep between duda/davis was duda's exit velocity.

That's fair.

I did forget about that.

Also, rather than rail on them which they usually deserve-

Gotta throw some optimism in here in that the rookie ball kids in the system are killing it.

Better yet: the kids in the Appy and GCL that are NOT killing it are getting attention as potential sleepers

Yeah-

And Mauricio is considered to have the highest ceiling of the rookie ball teens by some scouts.

He'll probably start at King then go to the Clones next year

Poor Yankees.
They have Severino as their "ace" while we have Degrom.

Wheeler still available? :banghead:
Why rely on nuance, facts and logic when you can bludgeon the other side with mindless repetition of "Duuur McDaniel's has potential :tooth and still be treated as if you were reasonable.

"Old timers"? That's a low blow even by your standards.

How about OBP with RISP? You like that better?

You still have to look at the way the kid hits. Baseball is just not a game where any geek can throw stats into a lineup and have the computer tell them what to do.

except that's exactly how it is now.

deal with it.

exit velocity is real, the spins on a baseball is real, bunting is dumb.

 You're a trip!

Defensive shifts beat launch angle and exit velocity. #Fundementals
