deGrom wins the Cy Young Award.
He had a great season.
What will he cost us now?

The Wilpons will pay it but expect the price of a hot dog to rise to $19.99 next year.

1. If it's really only 5 years/$155M, easy peasy. Pay the man. As always, the question is will the Wilponzis spend the necessary money to put a winning team around him. Are they going to pay Wheeler? And Thor?
2. If the Wilpons retaliate against their fan base like that after everything we've been through, then all I could say is "good luck with that." It would only cause fans to come early and tailgate instead and, moreover, further pissing off a fan base that has been giving you the stink eye for the past decade.
It's going to be a very interesting off season for Mets fans. Get ready for da pain.
Manhattan Project wrote:Glad to see deGrom got what his rightly deserved. We've been spoiled with Cy Young winners lately, can't lie. I hope we keep deGrom around, but I'd understand if they trade him. Keep him, Wheeler and Thor together and it's rotation that can lead you right to a championship run provided they get support.

Sign Andrew Miller, Daniel Murphy, and Wilson Ramos.
Don't do another darn thing.

What's the point of Murphy? At this point adding anything to block Alonso's accession to first is very Mets-esque. Aside from that I doubt he's dying to come back to a team that let him walk to sign a paltry three year deal with the Nationals.
I'd love Miller, but I doubt he entertains the Mets when all the top teams in baseball will want him. Unless we vastly overpay, I doubt he's a legitimate candidate for us.
Ramos on the other hand makes all the sense in the world and wouldn't cost us a pick like Grandal would. He mashes against lefties but he does bring some injury risk, that would be fine with him platooning with Plawecki.

You probably could've had deGrom this past summer, but you guys weren't being reasonable.
