The Wilpons will pay it but expect the price of a hot dog to rise to $19.99 next year.

1. If it's really only 5 years/$155M, easy peasy. Pay the man. As always, the question is will the Wilponzis spend the necessary money to put a winning team around him. Are they going to pay Wheeler? And Thor?

2. If the Wilpons retaliate against their fan base like that after everything we've been through, then all I could say is "good luck with that." It would only cause fans to come early and tailgate instead and, moreover, further pissing off a fan base that has been giving you the stink eye for the past decade.

It's going to be a very interesting off season for Mets fans. Get ready for da pain.

re-sign degrom then lockup wheeler before he becomes too expensive.

i'd give wheeler a 4y/64mm contract.

The fact that Brodie agreed to run the team indicates to me that there is already a plan of some kind in place. I don't believe that he would have taken the position if the only major move that he was allowed to make was resigning Jake. Keep the faith.

Glad to see deGrom got what his rightly deserved. We've been spoiled with Cy Young winners lately, can't lie. I hope we keep deGrom around, but I'd understand if they trade him. Keep him, Wheeler and Thor together and it's rotation that can lead you right to a championship run provided they get support.

0.00% they're trading degrom.

At this point in time it wouldn't make sense to. Though the interest in Thor seems to be drumming up and a lot of teams are looking for a lefty, it wouldn't shock me to see us trade away one of our pitchers. It's obvious the Mets need to retool and shed some dead weight on this roster. As always we need to upgrade our defense, speed and bullpen.

I don't but the closer by committee approach and I doubt they plan to make Gsellman the full time closer. It's going to be interesting to see how Brodie plays this offseason.

A winning offseason:

Sign Andrew Miller, Daniel Murphy, and Wilson Ramos.
Don't do another darn thing.

What's the point of Murphy? At this point adding anything to block Alonso's accession to first is very Mets-esque. Aside from that I doubt he's dying to come back to a team that let him walk to sign a paltry three year deal with the Nationals.

I'd love Miller, but I doubt he entertains the Mets when all the top teams in baseball will want him. Unless we vastly overpay, I doubt he's a legitimate candidate for us.

Ramos on the other hand makes all the sense in the world and wouldn't cost us a pick like Grandal would. He mashes against lefties but he does bring some injury risk, that would be fine with him platooning with Plawecki.

I would actually be happy just signing Ramos and Miller, actually. But that is assuming that Alonso or Dom Smith are deemed ready at 1B, which I have my doubts about.

So it looks like we're trading Syndergaard to the Padres and then signing Patrick Corbin and doing some other stuff. Story on

what a disaster it would've been for the mets, and a huge gain for the yankees if they actually did.

i think they would've gone deep in the playoffs, the special thing about degrom is that even without his A+ stuff he'll still pitch 7 innings and giving up 3-4 runs which everyone would take.

now he had a historic season, broke barriers by winning the cy young despite having a 10-9 record, and will be re-signed by the mets long term
