You're right. He has to prove that he can stay healthy too. If he goes down again for an extended period of time, I see the Mets possibly looking for a catcher at the deadline, if possible.

If Wright would just retire, they could fill so many holes. They should've signed Weiters.

That's what I thought, by the sabermatricians over on AmazinAvenue.com tel me that Weiters' defense has gone downhill and that his pitch framing ability is pretty bad.

An encouraging outing for Zach Wheeler today, reaching 94 on the radar gun. Wouldn't it be great if he reached his potential and stayed healthy this year? He's only 26.

So am I. I hope that Harvey doesn't become the David Wright of our pitching staff. But we have so many options. Gsellman and Lugo are good also.

I would actually consider a 6 man rotation this year, which is probably unheard of, to keep all of our arms fresh and healthy. Why not?

I can see that. But Tommy John surgery is even more disruptive.

both harvey and wheeler pitched and not either one ws on tv smh

they both did good tho. harvey either isn't airing it out or still cant find his top velocity. he can be very good without, but no elite like he was

I can see that. But Tommy John surgery is even more disruptive.

The other alternative is to just pitch Wheeler and Harvey on a strict pitch limit. I wouldn't be surprised if both of them started the season on extended rehab assignments down in Florida to start the season - especially if the weather up north is cold. We have Lugo, who is pitching lights out in the WBC, who could step into the rotation seamlessly. I see no reason to rush either one of those pitchers.

4 home runs today. Even Tebow got a hit. Gsellman pitched well. We've got an abundance of riches.

Jay Bruce played first base and made a nice play. Very encouraging!

What's going on with Duda? Is he healthy?

I'm not sure about Duda's health. I don't really know how David Wright is doing either but I heard someone with knowledge on the radio say that Wright can't throw at all. If true he needs to move to 1B and stay there. Or retire.

I thought I heard from Ed Coleman that they won't play Wright at first until they see him throw from 3B. Even at 1B, Wright would have to make throws. I think he's done.

Funny how 6-7 years ago, the Mets made the decision to keep Wright over Reyes because they thought Wright's game would hold up longer. Ironic, right?

Reyes might be the best non-rookie contract in baseball right now. I love Jose.

Reyes might be the best non-rookie contract in baseball right now. I love Jose.

The problem was that the Mets built a park essentially for Reyes, then they let him go because they didn't think his legs would hold up. He constantly had hamstring problems back then and while it hurt letting him go, I agreed with the decision. You don't give big time contracts to those players reliant on their legs, see Ellsbury.
