Official NY Mets Thread

In consultation with Howard, RealGM has decided to begin two OT topics on the Knicks forum for the New York Mets and the New York Yankees.

Global moderators and MLB moderators will have moderator domain and jurisdiction over these topics, which may also appear on the Mets and Yankees individual boards. Knicks moderators will also have secondary jurisdiction since this will appear on their board. Only one OT thread for each team.

We'll work out the kinks as we go, and make any changes as necessary and appropriate. Knicks moderators, if you have questions or concerns, please raise them in the moderator thread only.

The Yankee OT thread will be created soon by a moderator. This is the Mets thread.

Have at it. Thor dominant. Let's - Go - Mets!

I'm waiting for this team to go on a 2nd tear again. Starting to get worried about them.

Thor dominant is the only purely good thing I could come up with. It's a concern.

mets will be fine. They haven't had there everyday lineup out there for some time now.

They have been playing well with Harvey and Degrom really being sub par. Hopefully once they start get going we will take off.

Thread should be a sticky. Mets really dissapointed tonight and it wasn't just Harvey.

Was wondering why this wasn't a sticky.

I guess the Yankees are more important than the Mets?

But the Mets at least have a chance to get back to the Series for years to come.

We should probably un-sticky the Westchester and the CBA thread :o :o :o

So Matt Harvey....

The bullpen has been an ok surprise. I thought it was going to be worse.

I didn't expect the Phillies to start off like this.

Its funny that this season has the potential to end with our 2 aces being Syndergaard and Matz. Not too worried about Degrom though since hes so good an battling through tough innings.

Harvey will bounce back, but his time in the blue and orange won't be as long as we previously imagined.

Fans disappoint me. When a guy goes out there and pitches like he did after Tommy John, he gets a full calendar year without the boo-birds. Maybe we (mets fans) don't deserve winning.

The thing with Harvey is that the Mets give in to his every wish instead of being in charge. They left him in to lose the World Series last year because that's what he wanted. Remember? Now his arm seems tired and he's nibbling at corners like a 40 yr old pitcher. They should shut him down for 2 weeks and work on making him a power pitcher while letting his arm come back to life again.

My hope with Harvey is to have him finish this year strong. Have a great first half next year. THen trade him at the trade deadline next year with 1.5 years of control left. That way we can maximize the amount of prospects we get for him. Hopefully wheeler plays well when he gets back. Our future 4 man playoff rotaion could be Syndergaard, Degrom, Matz, Wheeler.

We are lucky to have control of Harvey for almost 3 years still. enough time to reestablish his value.

Not to say that I dont like harvey, I do. But among our pitchers, some are not gonna get a long term contract from us. Would rather give that long term contract to Syndergaard, Degrom, or Matz.

Happy David got that hit last night. It's been tough to watch my favorite player look completely finished. Hope he can turn it around and have s respectable season.

Always get into a argument with my pops about keeping wright or Reyes. Looks like they both on route for ealry exits. Sad, when I was younger I thought we had two HOF on the way.

Strangely though I'm not that worried about Harvey. He's not hurt, and ü don't just go from top flight pitcher to bum without injuries unless they're hiding something. But degroms velocity concerns me. He'll never be dominant without it unless he gets colon like control. He needs to be able to blow by ppl. Cause I'm all his starts they've been smashing the ball on him. He's gotten lucky a lot this season so far

I was really happy for him too. I mean, how can you not? That said, I'm not sure how long he'll hold up this season. It's hard to see him struggle the way he has. It's a shame Wilmer's hurt right now. He could be seeing a lot of playing time at 1B and some at 3rd.

I'll take your silence on Harvey as outright pessimism. Honestly, I think his arm is just tired from last year. Plus, his mechanics are off. I would continue to pitch him until Wheeler comes back in June/July. If he's still having the same types of problems (velocity and location), then I would send him down to either Vegas or down to Florida (my preference) for (1) an MRI; (2) some rest; and (3) rebuilding his mechanics. Hopefully, we bring him back up near the end of August for some late season starts and getting him ready for the playoffs.

When's Wilmer coming back?

Gary and Ron were spit-balling during the game about the different possibilities.

-moving Conforto to 1B

-moving Walker to 1B and bringing up Dilson Herrera, who's tearing up AAA, to play 2B.

-continuing to play Campbell

-moving Wright to 1B, but I didn't hear who would play 3B. Maybe Reynolds.
