Guidelines Thread: http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1468436=============================
Gonna open the thread to see what comes of it, but please guys, we really implore you to read both posts - I can't stress that enough. We are trying to help you everywhere on the board (our board, General Board, Current Affairs, etc) and keep you guys ban free.
Here's to community
Ask us any questions here and we'll do our best to answer it.
P.S. - WINGO COME BACK, DAMNIT.

Thank you for what you do. Our mods all do a great job. Sometimes it feels like our board is on a different site entirely. I have to remind myself every time that I go to the general board to hold back and only post in a fact based statement to avoid trouble.

Honestly, it kind of is

Modded differently, different kinds of posters, different relationship among/between the posters, etc.
We don't want you guys to feel confined to here, though. That's why we made these posts - we want you to feel comfortable posting anywhere on the site. In order to do so, posters need to be aware of the rules on each subforum.
Also, especially on the GB (but here as well), please please please use the report function. You guys have no idea how much easier that makes our jobs. Obviously don't report everything, but if you feel like someone is baiting/trolling/etc please report it.

I just realized that trying to change the GB is an improbable mission. I used to post there often as well as here to just get a read from other fans, but as it was mentioned, it's just an echo chamber there. Say anything positive about the Knicks and people will taunt and disregard your post. Or you'll find yourself reading a novel from one mod who I won't mention that will go into in-depth analysis about why the Knicks will suck and will continue to suck so I just said forget it.
So basically, I'll just post here more now. The mods here are much more laid back while still being fair and laying down the hammer if needed. It's way more fun when you can talk to people about pretty much anything and you get to know their posting personalities. It definitely feels like a community here and that's why I keep coming back.
I do have a question though. There are announcements at the top of the forum that are several years old. Is it possible that they can be consolidated into one thread or just removed altogether? Maybe I'm just weird, but they just seem out of date imo.

My issue on the general board is more due to my posting style than anything. I tend to jump in and make a funny comment or a gif file and jump back out. I usually post at work, so don't put too much thought or time into my posts. I really am a nice guy though, so if I post something harsh-ish it is meant in the most light hearted joking kind of way. I try to keep away from any Knicks related threads on the GB because they are just dump fests. Even if you respond in a factual and calm kind of way we are generally just told we are wrong by a few folks, end of conversation. This is where issues come up. Better to just not read the Knick threads there.

I didn't even know Wingo had been suspended. I don't even know what they did, but they can't be banned since I reference him in every post. Forgive me for I am slow and dull witted. Now I understand what the Mindy thread was all about.
And what happened in a Jennings thread? I don't see one so either it was vanished or on another board.
You guys are doing a good job and if this board was like others it wouldn't be the board we know and appreciate. It is surely why I stick around.
The only thing I would add is vigilance against stalking posters in whatever form it takes. I do think there is a kind of poster that posts out of some kind of petty resentment towards another poster and only intends to disrupt or dominate a thread and not contribute anything due to an actual interest in the topic of the thread itself.
Modding is grueling and thankless work. If you weren't doing this I'm sure each and every one of you would be bathing, clothing and feeding the homeless. You guys are like freaking sherpas or some kind of giant pack animals hauling our crap up the slopes of Mt. Knixmore. I could go on, but anyway, thanks

Some of it is the nature of the beast with mingling with fanbases. They either don't have all the info or process the info about other teams in a very different way. Look at how the Philly debates usually go with almost all of their fans still madly in love with "The Process" and most of the rest of us like "srsly, wtf Philly."
The taunting is what we're trying to get at here, and I've also seen a lot of it. The feedback that we've gotten from the GB mods generally is that reporting these incidences could go a really long way.
As a side note, TBH, some of the Knicks posters there are ones I've never or rarely seen here.

They are humorous, cute and cuddly, but nooooooooooooooooo that isn't good enough for you. Typical American bovine hubris. I bet you think your milk tastes better too, don't you?

If I remember correctly the white cat was a Global Mod
Edit - maybe the other way around

Our mods are generally very good, and most of our posters - with the exception of a few obvious baiters - are also good.
It makes me feel bad if a great guy like Wingo could get so easily banned. He's been a big contributor for a long time, and we lose something without him.

For sure. The good news was that we were able to make our case and he's been reinstated on our board. Dude just prolly still thinks he's banned and hasn't checked his account/the boards or something.

You should leave a locked sticky up for a week with a thread title "WINGO YOU'VE BEEN RE-INSTATED, CHECK YOUR MESSAGES"
