Knicks, Celtics, Raptors, or Sixers situation

Post#1 » by NYKNICKPLAYA » Sun Aug 28, 2016 7:13 am

Because of Porzingis, I would rather be in the Knicks situation vs all these other Atlantic division situations.

Sixers situation is good if Embiid is elite. Celtics is pretty damn good if they can get another star.

But I think we can get another star next summer.

Thoughts?

Celtics easily. Top team with two guaranteed lottery picks coming their way and a top coach.

Sixers have Okafor, Noel, Embiid, Simmons, their pick this year which should be really good, and Lakers pick this year which should be really good.

Celtics have great coach, Brown, Brooklyn pick this year which should be really good, and pick swap with Brooklyn next year which also should be really good.

Knicks have Porzingis and a pick this year which will be good not great. All our eggs are in KP basket. If he were to get hurt we'd be royally fcked.

If you were betting on stock futures, the smart money would be on Philly for the long term.

Lakers pick is top 3 protected.

Why would anyone want the Raptors' situation?

I just included them since it's kind of like a division thread---left out the Nets, obviously.

Raptors have two all-star guards, but yeah that's about it.

Your logic is kinda flawed seeing as KP isn't a legit star just yet. What if he gets hurt as someone else said? We'd be kinda ****.. I won't say completely tho since we do have all our picks going foward. The Celtics and 76ers tho are in situations where they could have multiple young guys break out and become all star level-elite players

How can you not want to be all in on KP being a superstar?

If he is, then all the other calculations don't really stack up against having one of the league's truly great players.

And as a fan isn't having a guy who can dominate both ends of the court a long-held dream?

Even if it doesn't pan out, just having a clear shot at that is worth more to me than what the Sixers or Celtics have got.

Somewhat jealous of the Celtics situation I have to admit. Young, well balanced hard-nosed defensive team with a great coach and picks coming.

I'm still thankful for the whole KP blessing though, Melo still there and doing his thing, and we got ourselves a team that is easy to root for. Hell, go Knicks, f*ck the rest.

Not even sure they really need one. They built a cohesive team up to this point and they're developping a chemistry that might be thrown off-balance if they added a star player. I think the addition of Horford has been way overlooked, he's an amazing fit.

I'm especially curious to see how the Bradley/Smart backcourt will fare in the future. They are already easily the best defensive backcourt in the league, and both have room to improve their offense, Smart specifically at 22.

Right now KP is the best young talent in the division. The Celtics appear to not make the greatest draft picks, but they have the most opportunity. The Nets could really screw the Celtics if they were able to be, say, 7th to the worst in the league (which would be challenging for them). The Sixers situation is a giant ?. Is Embiid healthy? If he is, he may be the best competition for KP in terms of best young talent. Sixers certainly have a great deal of upside with Simmons and their young big men, but it will take until December to know how to feel about them.

I like the situation the Knicks are in. We have the best player in the division (Melo) and the best young player in the division (KP). We also will have cap flex to work on our pg situation next season. If we look mediocre, we will be able to fire-sale and make a good pick again this summer. We have options. Can't be upset.

I would want the Celtics. Brad Stevens is going to be the best coach in the NBA soon.

Lakers pick is top 3 protected.

Top 3 protected for 2017, but unprotected by 2018.

I like the knicks situation. Celtics are in a great position, but I dont feel they will maximally capitolize on it. Time will tell.
