Some Good News: Lance Thomas 4th year is Not Guaranteed

Everyone's in a bad mood recently with all the Knicks drama so i figured I would share some good news I discovered yesterday. I know everyone, including me, was under the impression that we gave Lance a 4 yr contract thats gonna tie up valuable cap space. If we dont waive him by 6/30/19 Lance Thomas’ 2019/20 salary guarantees for $1,000,000. If we dont waive him by 1/10/20, Lance Thomas’ $7,583,975 guarantees for 2019-20. So waive him before 6/30/19 and he is gone.

So in essence we have another 7.5 mil in cap space for the summer when KP is up for an extension and has a relatively low cap hold (compared to the huge contract hes gonna get). Its not the most exciting good news but Ill take anything. We can all now stop being mad at Lance thomas and hoping we trade him. :D

Lance Thomas I don't believe is an unmovable contract wit the way dudes are getting paid. He hustles, is a great teammate, shooting about 43% from 3, a great FTshooter, and competes on the defensive end. He looks like a doof out on the court but I have heard a lot of coaches and media member rave about LT as a player and person. I don't think we would have an issue of moving him for an expiring or a small asset if we needed too.

He is right. LT salary is lower than the MLE in terms of % of the cap For a guy like him usually cost more.

People outside of Knick fans view his contract as decent. You could move him today without having to attach assets.

Great news. That leaves Noah contract as the only bad contract on the books.

I mean, DJ Jazzy Jeff is finally warming up to the concept that Lance Thomas should be utilized more when the Knicks have back to back games. Give Melo, KP or Lee (depending on the line up) a rest.

I still have issues with Lance's shot selection. When he's on, it's awesome but when he's off, it filters down into every facet of his game.

Still $7M per season is actually decent for today's NBA.
