Like I've been saying.

We should look at Simmons in FA.

Yes, he is old. But he would certainly provide some excitement in upcoming dark years. :D

And I still think he has some potential in him. Pop is just too relied on veterans/proved players.

Would anyone offer a contract to Tyler Ennis, who is going to be a free agent this summer? i must add, he also has the tendency to f up a tank, similar to what he has been doing since getting minutes with the lakers.

sure, but it's not going to get fixed in one offseason.

Getting those two would be some coup. 3&D guys to grow next to KP and WHG.

Good thing we blew our load on vets

Well yeah....both would be awesome, but those kids are looking for a minimum of 40 million a year to acquire both, even if you hadn't did the Noah thing, that's still a tough purchase.

I would be interested in him. Not sure id offer a big contract, but if we could get him for cheap i would bring him in

New CBA estimates from Duncan / Leroux

10 year vet
35% of cap - 36 mil starting salary
5 year (7.5% raises) 207 mil
4 year (4.5% raises) 153.7

7-9 year vet
30% of cap - 31 mil starting salary
5 year (7.5% raises) 178 mil
4 year (4.5% raises) 132.4 mil

0-6 year vet (non Rose rule)
25% of cap - 25.8 mil starting salary
5 year (7.5% raises) 148.5 mil
4 year )4.5% raises) 110.3 mil

They fall in the 0-6 range so more like 51 mil

Their teams are going to match. They can't afford not to. But I would be happy for us to even attempt it

Ha ha...I know they'd cost more than 40, I was just throwing out a big round number to show it's pretty unobtainable....51 just seals that deal.

True. Especially considering that KP and them would by no means be better than Bradley, Crowder and Horford who have already proven not to be good enough to contend.

Boston is leading the EC with like two games left? Being the top seed in your conference would be the definition of contender. They can absolutely beat Cleveland in a series. The only way GSW is some bad breaks facing a razor sharp team coming at then, a perfect storm, but that doesn't mean that SA, Boston, and Cleveland aren't contenders. Boston and GS particularly....are primed to be dominant teams the next few years, with Boston just beginning and GS hitting their stride.

Give me that KCP Otto KP combo over their BOS counterparts anytime. Next year those 3 could put up some big numbers.

I still think you're overrating them a bit. They are very good, but I'm not sure they're championship material.

Assuming they'd come here for huge dollars, they'd still need to pan out. I can already see the board getting impatient with them before their first season together is over: Pope struggling with his shot a little and Otto struggling with so many touches.

Don't get me wrong, I love both players. I want them here. But I'd prefer putting the expectations into perspective.

Adding a number 1 pick as the go to scorer obviously changes that perspective...

Fultz
KCP
Otto
Willy
KP

...but is that enough?

Holy cow that would be fun to watch. Or Ball dishing it to these guys. Even Fox DSJ. That would be something.

That's a nice core that compliments each other.

Odds are DET & WAS matches no mater what, just to not lose the asset. But a great PG and two 3&D studs on the wings would be the ideal way to add to our core. Only thing is if WHG should start or be the 6th man.

We need so much :noway: :nonono: :banghead:

I can see us getting Gallo back here if he opts out. How ironic would that be?

So is there any situation where the Knicks trade Carmelo and Redick gets S&T to a 3rd team?

They can't be looking for $40M/yr deals, since the max they can make is ~$128.2 million over five-years .

But either way, they are RFA's, and we aren't getting them.

No, I mean as a stop-gap starting PG for a couple years. In any event, we'll need a veteran starting PG while we develop a rookie PG.

You're clearly right though. While carrying a contending team might be asked too much even for both together, spending on them should be the way to go. They play the right way and that should be the priority after what we've been enduring since Pat, Spree and Marcus hung 'em up.

I've said earlier that I'd like to take a look at Ian Clark or Alex Burks and some of the Boston backcourt in a deal for Melo. They should be intrigued with Melo at the 4...

Lakers Receive: Carmelo Anthony

Knicks Receive: Luol Deng, DeAngelo Russell, 2019 first round draft pick (assuming lakers can give it)

He's a score first pg and not a good one. He wouldn't be good for KP and Willy development. We already had to suffer through Rose. I don't like him. He got benched in Dallas for Mike James.

He'd be good for the tank though.
