they're not wrong. it will be tough to know what to do with ron. he's not a starter (not yet, anyway), but hopefully it can be easily figured out

Well yeah....both would be awesome, but those kids are looking for a minimum of 40 million a year to acquire both, even if you hadn't did the Noah thing, that's still a tough purchase.

They can't be looking for $40M/yr deals, since the max they can make is ~$128.2 million over five-years .

But either way, they are RFA's, and we aren't getting them.

LOL....40 as in 20per.

With Murray in place and Harris being extended...I REALLY would like to kick the tires on Will Barton.

We should resign Holiday and trade Lee for some youth.

Screw it, possible ways for Melo and CP3 to play together (multiple scenarios)

So we know Melo is just fine with his legacy, but the Knicks brass has made it quite hellish for him here. The fans know what Melo means to the team and are greatful for all that he has done (and tried to do) for the franchise, but something needs to change. We also know the Clipperland is having its own turmoil. Doc and CP3 it seems are on good terms, but CP3 and the bigs (DJ and Griff) are on the outs. The team also has reported seeing favoritism from Doc to his son. So it is with all of this in mind that I wanted to make a separate thread so please since our off-season just began and the booty vs face thread is not yet revived, let this ride for a minute.

Scenario 1: Melo gets moved to LAC in the following type of deal:
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=kdwmwrt
CP3 can re-sign with the Clippers. Blake may be motivated to participate in a sign-and-trade to either TOR or Boston (or he can outright sign in Miami). Knicks can move forward with a heard of role players and let the kids develop. Austin Rivers gets to play in MSG just like his dad which cures the culture issues in Clipperland.

Scenario 2:
Doc decides that he wants to keep Blake which means he has to hold on to DeAndre and decides to let Paul walk. However, Doc would prefer the Paul goes to the East so that Doc can keep his job. Doc realized that he needs MULTIPLE pieces to fill his roster and ideally would want to open up a slot for a key free agent should he have a chance. As a favor, Doc and CP3 broker the following in a sign and trade scenario:
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=n43y376
Rose, Pierce, and Redick represent the 10M difference (Knicks will have ~10M in cap) so really the deal is CP3, Crawford for Kuz, Quin, Lance, Lee. They may be able to squeeze Wesley Johnson on us as well. This give the Knicks a talented starting 5 with whatever rookie we get. Obviously this is the least likely scenario as it requires Phil to want to work with Melo and for Doc to not get full market value AND for CP3 to take on a challenge rather than signing with a team like the Spurs (What I would do if I were him).

Scenario 3:
This was something I heard on the radio, Melo possibly to Miami for Winslow straight up. After this deal Miami can also use Dragic's salary to execute a sign and trade for Paul. Effectively Melo can allow them out of McRoberts salary, and be exchanged for Winslow. With Bosh's salary out of the way, they will have about 35M in cap space, Melo eats 24M of that leaving 11. McRoberts and Winslow combine for about 9M. Heat can outright sign Paul without giving up Dragic OR swap Dragic for Paul and use the 20M to resign Wade.

Thoughts? Other Melo-based ideas?

Merged in to the big thread, FYI. For now, anyway. I imagine the Melo trade threads will fire up again soon enough.

I hear ya - maybe when the time comes it would be worthwhile to have one thread where people actually discuss Melo trade scenarios and another for people to yell at each other conversation thread.

Hey guys Heat fan here. I was wondering would you guys do a Carmelo trade involving Justise Winslow? Wanted to get your guy's thoughts on this and what the current value of Melo is at the moment.

You definitely need to give us that pick. Winslow is a roleplayer and Bosh is done.

Yea..

But again, Miami will have all the leverage.. lets say, he agrees to be traded, but selects three teams like it was reported before TD (both LA and Cavs), but they don't want him, at all. So he agrees to expand to Miami. So now, Riley knows its pretty much our last chance do dump Melo.. So he will not offer much..

I've been saying, I would be Okay to just give Melo up. Like I see it, there will be no market for him (if he opens up to like 10-15 teams, and wants to just play in PO`s, then its a different story and we will get value).

But yeah, eating Bosh salary, and just getting Winslow (who is still young, but isn't that good atm), thats a crappy return..

so you let melo play his last year out and go ahead and exercise his po then... that is a terrible trade.
