Very sad. Him and Marv were so great together. It was like a podcast within a game before podcasts were around. RIP Johnny Hoops

Don't know him too well but I remember him watching the Knicks in the early to mid 2000s and listening somettimes on radio. Calm voice and always seemed to be smiling. Could tell he had love for his job, the Knicks, and obviously basketball.
RIP

So sorry to hear this. He was a integral part of my Knick experience. He was a Fordham guy as well (my Alma mater).
From the news story, it appears that he had been suffering from dementia, which is a horrible way to go.
My sympathies to his family and friends.

RIP Johnny Hoops

funny - a lot of folks remember him as a radio personality but earlier he was the TV color guy before he and Clyde switched places. They'd do the halftime highlights summary together and at the end he would always tell Clyde to "be good on the radio." Knicks have had a long stretch of being blessed with a great commentating team.

I grew up on Johnny Hoops. Very soothing sound and I can still hear his voice. Gone but never forgotten. RIP to a person who personified the true Knicks experience.

we may not get a lot of things right on the basketball court, but at least we have a top notch broadcasting and radio team.
John Andariese was a legend for sure and many across the NBA have tried to emulate his hard work, passion, and respect for the game. He'll be truly missed.
RIP
