The job of the GM/pres is to have a working plan in place, to build his team and make sure that they are successful. Jackson has shown absolutely zip in that department.

It's not to engage in twitter wars, to use your mouthpieces to attack your own players, to blame everyone but himself for the mess that he himself is part of. And please don't anyone post the clip of him saying "but I am responsible" cause that's a hog wash of a slap in the face. How do you go on a long diatribe blaming everyone else for what's wrong (right or wrong) and then say "but I'm responsible". It's sheer and utter condescending and insulting the intelligence of your audience. If you are responsible then you are responsible...the end.

If Phil wants to lecture and critique, he should start by looking at himself in the mirror. To which...for someone that is so "zen", here are some very popular tidbits about 'blaming others'...

Deepak Chopra..."When you blame and criticize others, you are avoiding some truth about yourself"
Dr. Steve Maraboli..."For most people blaming others is a subconscious mechanism. In reality, the only thing in your way is YOU."
Anonymous..."To solve a problem you have to recognize your share of the responsibility. If you only blame others, you'll never solve the problem."
Anonymous..."Blaming everybody else is great until you've got nobody else around to blame but yourself."

That last one will come to fruition for Jackson if he manages to somehow trade Anthony. Well at least until he finds a new escapegoat. Likely a 7'3" version.

Also...Anthony being what he is no reason to excuse Phil Jackson.

This...THIS a million times over. Phil apologist aren't bothered ONE BIT that all of this is someone else fault. The guy has been here going on what, 4 years..."the buck stops here" and then spend the remaining 44:30 on blaming everyone else ring hollow.

Fire this old fker!

Jackson resigned Melo and gave a NTC to that clown, so that's mistakes 1+2 right there for ol PJ.

Too much $ and years for an older player, who cares if he's good. Too much money for a guy only interested in one side of the game, the offensive side. Too much money and years for a player who does that but isn't a shot creator for others plus, in general, a ball holder. Is Melo an elite scorer? yup. But his flaws elevate the degree of difficulty for any GM to build a roster around him, not that any Knick GM has come close. Which is why Phil should have jettisoned Melo in a S&T a couple of years ago.

Hey I said the same thing. Whatever issues or problems or inabilities of Anthony doesn't excuse or alter what Jackson is. NY would be better off with both gone...not just one.

Totally agree. I'll settle for PJ sending Melo packing this offseason and then maybe he'll be next. One step at a time.

He figured he needed a scorer and then thought he could get Melo to "buy in" in spite of years of evidence to the contrary.

Think about this, and think about how Phil Jackson just used the Joker's Chaos Theory to bring about the state of the Knicks today. IT'S BRILLIANT

Moo, do you really think Phil has engaged in Twitter wars? That just seems a little much. He definitely has a strong opinion and tweeting is a bad way to express that publicly. But wars, I dunno. The Kerr thing, the Melo thing. It's like 2 things and 4 tweets, 2 of which were him withdrawing, apologizing, complimenting the person/thing he was supposed to be at war with.

I also don't see what's so bad about him giving his opinion on basketball. He didn't take any shots at Kerr or Melo personally -- he was talking about his theory of basketball.

This is the list of forwards that averaged over 3.5 apg in 15-16. How much more did people want Melo to "buy in". What exactly is that code for anyway? I'm a semi P-Jax supporter, but it's definitely waned over the past year. The talent around Melo was and has been garbage since P-Jax took over. AA was an absolute scrub here and gave zero effort on defense as evidenced by his net rating on the Kings this year. Rolo and KP were the only other average NBA players on the roster last year. Rose was/is a terrible fit with Melo and KP and Noah is a shell of himself. What exactly do people want this man to do. I agree he could be a better defender, but at this point he's out of position mainly because of how the roster has been constructed. Asking 33 year old Melo to chase wings is a recipe for disaster that any coach or GM should have been able to realize and make adjustments to...

I think Melo ran the system and shared the ball and created at times. But as someone said, it's like he does it for X games to start a season and then reverts heavy to form, where the ball sticks in his hands. And I could care less how many assists he averages, you can tell when I guy stops movement or not, outside of the plays where ISO'ing Melo was the call, which it should be - at times. And agreed, the roster around Melo by Phil has been bad, but it wasn't all that great before Phil either, minus that brief window where Stoudamire stayed healthy and Chandler was there, but the guard play has been iffy around Melo from the jump, minus short runs by Felton and Kidd.

Also, I thought everyone hated the Amare/Melo/Chandler grouping. Now it's "talent"? Mismatched talent, but talent, I guess. I sort of understood getting Chandler, as his window was the window of Melo and Amare's contracts. Then I wanted ALL of them gone. Unfortunately, we got another helping of Melo, the warmed over, no longer that fresh version.

Everyone did hate Melo/Amare/Chandler. Our best season was when Amare was hurt/out for most of it and came back as a reserve bench player. Melo's never needed an all-star guard. He's always needed a smart one who could organize an offense, play some defense and tell him no. Hence why his best seasons came with Chauncey and Kidd and his worst came with AI, Rose, and Felton by himself.

Or maybe without the Melo cloud hanging over the franchise, and maybe after Phil has learned a lesson or two about New York, the losing will prove to have been worth it, and Phil's vision can start to take shape. And when he leaves because he's just too old and beaten down to do it anymore, he'll leave Knicks fans satisfied with the progress and overall direction, even if they're not in the title picture yet.

That's my hope. And I think it's a very plausible outcome still. I just think Phil's biggest hurdle is not himself, but his detractors. Because I do believe there's an agenda, and I do believe it's the reason he didn't speak to the media this year. The twitter stuff was a mistake. Rosen is an interesting wrinkle. But ultimately, I believe Phil is the man for this job. I knew that the minute Dolan started toting his line, "ask Phil".

I guess in turn, his biggest obstacle will be himself, because it will be up to him to circumnavigate the press and the fans, and subsequently, Dolan, to see this thing through. Phil is eccentric, so it will be difficult, and he hasn't been perfect so far. But I still think the Zen Master is up for the challenge. He's just that intelligent, and he's just that committed.

Phil signed Joakim Noah for four years......he's the sucker.

What else you got Bro?

Is this a joke? How about trading away a decent rim protector that could help save some beating from KP, all while moving in a PG that doesn't really fit any system anymore since he's an athletic PG who can no longer stay healthy, who also happens to have a hard time passing the ball. His whole handling of Melo, not just now....but midseason trying to push his thoughts through pundits....some call that zen, some call that being a bitch. How about bringing in Rambis, a guy who has done nothing except be his puppet. How about the Tyson Chandler trade? How about signing Melo to the same deal Phil wish he never had drawn up? What else do I have.....please.

How about Tyson not being half the player he was when Phil got here and being disenchanted with Melo.
How about that that rim protection last year got us into the lottery too.
How about the possibilities that there is a provision in that NTC in which the Knicks can stretch Melo's contract.
How about the fact that Rose is on a one year deal knowing full well our fall back is the best draft class since Lebron and Melo's.
How about what Phil said about Melo is absolutely true and the world knows it. But Phil as much as he tried personally and publically could not get Melo to play team ball, offensively and defensively.

How about that?

Agreed again...are we best friends?

See...NOOOOWWW is the time that fat owner Doltan is going to show some patience.

Yeah talk about not being able to do anything right. The one time you want him to interfere he doesn't.

Who should Dolan hire? Who do you think he would hire?

I have no problem with giving Phil the boot, if we were to replace him with someone better. As Knicks fans we should all realize by now that "anyone" is not necessarily an improvement.
