Blazers looking to attach pick!!! Let's do it!!!

Like I suggested when taking plumlee.

Let's take on some short term salary to get some first round picks. we shouldn't be targeting free agents this year or next year. And Dolan doesn't care about the tax. Take on some bad short-term money for this season and next season in exchange for the 20th pick this year?

Would you want to do it? Honestly, if the contract isn't prohibitive, then I wouldn't even mind taking on a 3-year deal. chances are we won't have Melo, Lee, or any other long-term money on our books aside from KP in 2019.

All picks at all costs. Trade everyone - Melo, KP whoever else and build around Willy and picks

I'm with you here but I have a feeling there will be a team out there with cap space that would be willing to take Crabbe in a straight up salary dump without the Blazers having to give up picks.

picks, picks and more picks PLEASE. I wouldn't mind if we didn't sign a single Vet if we can get picks and another youngin. Agreed that the team wouldn't likely have to take a bad contract in return

I see what you're saying, but the Blazers have three picks, so nobody is going to do them any favours without compensation.

If the blazers took on D-Rose during the past Feb deadline. they would not have much of a prob now since Rose is an expiring.

They have some bad contracts over there. Harkless Turner and Crabbe might be ok, but especially Crabbes contract is out of whack. Then of course there is Leonard.

I guess you take the picks for the dump, depends on who is there.

Blazers Willing To Attach First Round Pick To Dump Salary
MAY 31, 2017 1:58 AM

The Portland Trail Blazers own three first round picks this year and are willing to part ways with one of them in order to remove one of their unwanted contracts from their books, according to a source.

The Blazers have no pending free agents this offseason and face a numbers crunch with their roster in addition to a significant luxury tax payment.

The Blazers re-signed Allen Crabbe, Meyers Leonard and Maurice Harkless last offseason, while also adding Evan Turner and Festus Ezeli in free agency. The Blazers will waive Ezeli in the offseason.

Don't settle for one of the later picks. Get #15 and draft Jackson. I'd take on both Leonard and Turner if that's what needs to be done. Ideally we'd be able to get 15 & 26 for taking on those two but we'd probably have to send someone back like LFT. They actually need people who can play some PF.

We should not be giving them anything of value either. The cap relief should be enough. We need to keep O'Quinn and Lee for now. Use them next season or get value back in another deal

If we can convince Ainge to take on Anthony's salary in exchange for a couple of the currently less desirable future picks he holds, we can take on as many salaries as we like (while acquiring a lot more picks).

Plus
It's not Crabbe that they want to unload, it's probably these smaller ones they want to rid themselves of:

Al-Farouq Aminu 26 $7,680,965 $7,319,035 $6,957,105
Festus Ezeli 27 $7,400,000 $7,733,000
Ed Davis 27 $6,666,667 $6,352,531

http://www.blazersedge.com/2017/2/12/14592316/festus-ezeli-trade-rumors-portland-trail-blazers

The Trail Blazers are looking to remain active in the trade market after dealing Mason Plumlee to the Nuggets for Jusuf Nurkic. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Portland is looking to dump Festus Ezeli’s contract before the February 23 trade deadline.

Sources say Portland is determined to move injured center Festus Ezeli before the deadline and is pitching him in particular to teams well below the salary floor that would be willing to take on Ezeli's contract with some level of draft compensation attached. This is the first year of a two-year deal for Ezeli that pays $7.4 million this season but is guaranteed for only $1 million next season. Denver ($7.6 million), Philadelphia ($7.5 million) and Brooklyn ($6.8 million) are the three teams that sit the farthest under the the league's $84.7 million salary floor.

Ezeli has been unable to join the active roster after signing a two-year deal over the summer. The former Golden State big man underwent a knee injection before the regular season, and was rumored to be contemplating season-ending knee surgery in December. Unloading Ezeli’s contract would give the Trail Blazers more salary cap flexibility moving forward.
