The Dallas Mavericks are serious contenders to sign both Jrue Holiday and Justin Holiday in free agency.

The Holiday brothers have strong interest in playing together.

Jrue Holiday is coming off a four-year, $41 million extension he signed in 2012 with the Philadelphia 76ers. Holiday was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2013.

Justin Holiday will be a free agent after appearing in all 82 games last season for the New York Knicks.

we have his bird rights. If the Mavs give him $15M a year, then let him go

The one decent role player the Knicks have on the bench, they'll be losing.

Losing JH would be no big deal. If we overpay to keep him I'd be pissed

If you suffered through watching the majority of least season, you’d know holiday was our most consistent performer on both ends, and re-signing him is a top priority.

Why are average role players getting so much money? Not like these teams are a few role players away from contention either. This is why the NBA has no competitive balance, most of these teams overspend their money on average players.

8 mill too much there, he might be a good role player but we have no need for him while rebuilding.

Laughable. $8 mil is more than reasonable.

Yeah, I was counting on him being a core piece. This sucks.

There is a scenario where we keep Justin... sign Jrue... draft a guy like Isaac, Tatum, etc.

Going from Drose to Jrue is a lateral move. Both injury prone and don't make us much better. But hey if the goal is 8th pick again then we can do that

Possibly, however I would rather save the cap space on adding difference makers. JH is average to below average in everything except free throws and defense, and his D isn't great. Bottom line is we're a bad team without him and a bad team with him, so why is it a must that we pony up the big bucks to sign him?

When the Pelicans acquired DeMarcus Cousins, opposing teams realized there was no way their front court could work around the unibrow and Boogie so they went after the guards and Jrue Holiday was exposed. He's a serviceable supporting cast player when he's NOT injured but he's not worth more than $14M/season.

His brother would be stupid to leave the Knicks.

Limited. He's coming off a 2 year deal remember. ;)

A team like Philly could easily sign both brothers to high contracts (they need the salary floor), and we couldn't match.

He’s a plus contributor on both ends of the floor. One of the more efficient scorers on the team last year, could get out in transition and was actually part of the few net positive lineups we had last year. He’s the definition of a role player that you want on your team as you build a foundation.

And he’s 27, not 32 so he’ll productive throughout that contract. We have to forget about star FAs and build within, acquiring assets along the way. That cap space can also be used to take on bad contracts with picks attached to them. Continuity matters and he’s a guy you want to bring back.

If the Holiday brothers *must* play together next season, then happy trails Justin. I want no part of Jrue.

Correct. I'm curious to see the contracts offered next month. The increase in salary cap is not as high as it was two summers ago.

Either way, we signed Lance Thomas with early bird rights last summer. If a team's going to give high contracts to the Holiday brothers, it only makes sense to let him go

I can't blame them

its a good move

perhaps we can take Wes Mathews off their hands

Ill send them a resigned Holiday and Lee for Mathews and Noel!
