Easy signing. His pure shooting is a clearly translatable NBA skill, plus has decent size, good athleticism, decent handle, and shows potential on defense and as a ball mover.
It's a timing thing.
They have to likely wait until this trade gets sorted out one way or another.

Does anyone have any update here? thanks
I am not sure what's the hold up.
I am not sure what's the hold up.
In short, all I am saying is RJ-Brunson-Grimes-Quickley-Randle are the untouchables moving forward.

They don't want to reduce our cap space until after Melo is traded, if possible. They could always sign him after we use up all our cap, so there's nothing to worry about. He wants to be here, and we want him. He looks good.

It would be fantastic if he did turn out to be an all star but what makes you more high on Dodson than Frank exactly?

Want to see Doston running on the court with Troy Williams and Christian Woods types... curious to see what a Melo trade bring back.... would be happy to see a Maurice Harkless here also.
Just want long athletic defensive wings/bigs on this team.
A Melo trade needs to happen asap...

Re: Knicks select Damyean Dotson
dotson is kind like michael redd type of player can score in multiple different ways is good rebounder for his size and also has nice jump shot and solid defender. Why i am not high on frank because i think he going to take while he might be good in three years but he can't make and impact like monk, smith jr, dovan mitchell, zach collins, john collins, dwayne, bacon, caleb swagnian, justin jackson, and kyle kuzma those are going to make an impact right way and frank he is going to take some time and be while but those guys who i mention above can make impact right now for there team and i just don't see that for frank right now. I am not going to say anything the guys that got drafted before him because we could not have drafted them any ways but it is interesting point perry said the other day i wouldn't have draft frank with 5 pick because i like fox better but he didn't say where he would have drafted frank he only said i liked frank.

Kush or Diesel?
You project Dotson an all star...and half the first round as better than Frank right now and not ONE of these guys have played a single NBA game and exactly how much have you seen of Frank?

Re: Knicks select Damyean Dotson
Well, most people should be higher on Dotson than Ntilikina right now.
Dotson showed us something in the summer league. Frank showed us he could sit out 5 games with a bruise.
I still think Frank has higher upside, but until I can see how he looks and how he performs against NBA talent, I can only see him as a project. Imo, he will have flashes this season, but probably won't be as ready as Dennis Smith to make an immediate impact as a starter. Also, his speed and lateral quickness have been a concern of mines since pre-draft. It doesn't mean I would be willing trade him. You need to see what he can do first.
As for Dotson, I'm hoping for a Willy Hernangomez type contract. Keep him at least 3 years, in order to gain his bird rights. Imo, he has potential to be a very good 3 & D player, and those are like GOLD in the NBA. Every team needs them, and those type of players get paid. He's already a knock down 3-guy (he needs to prove this at the NBA level, though), now he needs to work on the defense and ball handling (which is a legit weakness). He has all the other tools: Height & size to play either wing position, good rebound instincts, is unselfish, and is a competitor. He is old enough to produce now as well. Imo, He's more Anthony Morrow than Michael Reed, at this point... but, well see next season. He's not a slam dunk, which is why he went mid second round (hopefully it was just age bias).

I still don't get why we only played those 5 Orlando SL games. We should of let these guys play in the Vegas league with all the other teams.

Phil didn't like the Vegas atmosphere apparently and he was making the decisions when the summer league team was being put together.

Maybe there were too many basketball types at Vegas whom Phil couldn't get along with. We need to reevaluate this, too.

I'd be surprised if we didn't play in Vegas next year. Vegas summer league is becoming much bigger and they said they want to focus on developing youth. I'd also want to see them work on improving the g-league team to create a real system where players can improve.

It wouldn't be the first time a teams second round pick ended up more impactful than its first. But I think far too many people are ready to imply that Frank will be a bust. Its gone from....i would've rather had drafted Smith to now we trust second rounders more than our first. Could end up being right, but very improbable

If the Knicks cap themselves out by signing DD they lose some flexibility in any trades they may make....
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.
