The offers aren't magically going to get better

Houston just gave harden a ridiculous extension. They will have to pay CP3. They can't beat GS right now. They need that third guy. The offer definitely could get better. We aren't giving them Melo for crap.

I want unprotected first round picks. I'll even take back crap contracts. The more the merrier. Saves us from overpaying for an overrated free agent while going through a rebuild.

Personally I don't think the Knicks want Ariza back at this point. He is 32 and doesn't fit into long term plans.

Vet and plays D. Is expiring and once a knick. I'll take him in a heartbeat.

ariza is expiring and they can put together a deal that works for us with him and other contracts. they signed pj tucker to be a wing defender. they don't need him. that's why i mentioned him.

CrazyKnicks wrote:Don't mind Melo staying since we signed THJR. That signing signaled us not fully rebuilding. Now get Rondo in here and let's see how far this team can go.

Rondo, THJR, Melo, KP, and Willy can also go small Rondo, THJR, Lee, Melo, Kp.

Rookie PG, Lee, and O'quin gives us a solid 8 man rotation. If it all clicks we can get the #2 seed as the East is wide open. Just need them to be focused and well coached. Shouldn't have a problem making the playoffs in the weakest Eastern Conference in recent memory.

Lol signing a 25 year old is signaling the knicks as not rebuilding, this fan base has just gave up

Mills: Melo, thanks for coming in. This is our new guy, Scott Perry.

Perry: Hi, Carmelo! Great to be here! I wanted to draft you in DET! Long time fan, and I'll keep my question simple: do you want to...

they would trade Gordon before they trade Ariza...they need ariza's defense. Gordon is now a bench player at this point. CP3/Harden playing 40 minutes in playoffs where is gordon playing.

He might be the piece Morey wanted to hold onto that he can't.

drekwins wrote:This is all PR boys and girls. Everyone just assumed that they'd give Melo away for anything or buy him out. This is a game changer. Puts the ball in Melos court where he has to demand a trade. Previously, he was just a victim. It also makes teams step up their offers. Lastly, if Melo does demand a trade, we don't have to give in to all of his wants anymore or we could enforce our NTC. I love the move.

Make no mistake, the Knick's are still trading him. This is just a great tactic to get leverage back.

Perry! This is what happens when competence enters the bldg. :lol:

Mills = good cop
Perry = bad cop

This new regime makes Phil look like the incompetent moron he is.

On a side note, Greenie is a wizard. She wished for this the other night and we all thought it had no chance. I'm never disagreeing wit her again.

Right but again what is the point? He would likely then be the focal point of the trade and we would have just traded our best player for an expiring. This is why they pause....

Stop it shtolky. You are being too level headed, positive, and making too much sense!

I think I can sometimes be too positive here. I swear I'm not like this in real life. That being said, I love the patience here. I was worried we were about to accept a pu pu platter for Melo.

Pretty sure Perry wasn't there when Hardaway was discussed or signed.

he's really good friends with CP3 and he recruited him to HOU. that ain't happening. Gordon to a 3rd team might make more sense as a more palatable player to get more assets that they didn't originally want to give up.

Ariza ain't going anywhere because it would make no sense. We don't need that good of a vet expiring either.

Yea but what do we need with Ariza? Thought we were trying to get younger.
