So basically the same bs we need an identity crud we've been hearing. I mean what teams says hey we aren't going to play defense and just focus on offense lol. Sports really need some new material.

The press conference is on facebook since they did it on facebook live. They go into detail on the aspects of culture change. Wasn't just crud.

Can you post the examples they gave? Can't log on FB right now.

Steve Mill's Mention of Identity:
Mainly centered around accountability for the players and in the front office
He also mentioned a focus on getting younger and player development
He dropped a small hint of that when mentioning the G-League and essentially wanting to be the best franchise at leveraging that type of development vehicle.
He also mentions development for both young players and veterans
My interpretation of this - veterans continuing to improve their game points to another level of accountability
Finally, he somewhat touched on the fact that focus on building with younger players should be the right step moving forward

Jeff Hornacek Mention of Identity:
Starts his introduction by talking about having a team that plays defense, plays with high energy, and is scrappy at all times.
One interesting example he brought up was taking charges and mentioning that the team as a whole did not do enough of this.
He had a quick note about having players being able visually compare each other on this style of play, thus holding each other accountable
Again talked a lot about having a defensive identity.

Scott Perry's Mention of Identity:
A little less specific but he mentioned building culture included:
being consistent "what we do on a daily basis"
"everyone checks their individual agenda and egos at the door"
mentions being inline with Steve's decision making including "cheering from afar" in response to THJ signing

Anyone else feel free to add to my paraphrasing but I definitely like the points they emphasized on.

Bad example. Lance actually fits the mold of what the brass is talking about a little more but he's just not very good. He's always active off the ball and on defense.

Lance is not really a ball mover though. Dude is kind of a nut. Blackholish.

Lance Thomas the trash dude at the park that played the 2k skill set tutorial and think he has a move set now.

He is but he's a low usage nut. If the ball has gotten to Lance, usually something else has not gone according to plan.

It's not like he's out there taking YOLO Bargs shots.

We may be taking a harder look at the Cleveland deal -- or, I don't mind just keeping him. Start Melo at the 4, limit his minutes, develop the youth, and let him opt out in a year. That's better than taking on trash from other teams just for the sake of moving him.

Btw: Steve and Scott look like they might be a good tandem. I'm optimistic!

Makes me think Morey was trying to fleece us real quick before the sale announcement was made. Knicks pulled out and now he knows nothing is going down until the team is sold.

Eventually both Rambo and Horny are goners.

I can see Blatt ending up being here as head coach. He and Mills are tight and Blatt has all the same principles of what Mills/Perry are stating. Defense, unselfish ball moving motion offense, and especially with us having Euro players on our roster.

I'd be shocked if Rambis was here to start the season. 70-30 against Hornacek starting out next year, imo. I'm watching for Marky Wark this summer too...

I think (because of) the whole youth movement, Horny is safe (even if he underachieves..just not severely). If were were playing to win it would be different but, as long as the guys show growth and improvement, Jeff should be safe for a few years. Rambis,......dude needs to go. Even IF he isn't a problem, it gives the impression that they not everyone is there for the betterment of the team. Mills doesn't seem like the type to need or even want a yes man so, get him the hell of of here.

Looks like Gaines is sticking around too, VP of Player Personnel

Don't know what that entails exactly, but sounds like a promotion

Gaines deserves to stay. Mills is not vindictive like that to fire him just bc Phil is gone. And VP of Player Personnel was his title last season as well. Initially he was hired as a Special Advisor to the President (Phil) but last season was given the VP, Player Personnel title. He is ranked fourth in the chain of command (Mills > Perry > Houston > Gaines). If Perry makes any new hires and reshuffles the deck at worst I can see Gaines being demoted to heading the scouting department.

Lol wait do you watch the presser? How did you get kp is the only core player? You guys kill me obviously the core is frank, Willy, Timmy and kp. Baker could be very solid, but let's not act like we have no core because kp is the stand out.

Kp could be a top 10 player but the knicks other core guys have a chance to be very good, Willy is beyound his years with his footwork, Timmy is a proven nba scorer and frank has a chance to be a all star pg.

This team isn't the worst in the league and our situation isn't as bad as others, this is why I say the 1 pick is hard to get.

Knicks have young hungry pieces that actually are willing to play team basketball and play defense.

Ok, I am going to assume that you obviously quoted the wrong person.

Meant to quote the 1st part, didn't feel like looking for the og post lol

Baker isn't a part of the core.

Right now KP is the only true core piece we have.

Frank and WHG can get there.

Do not confuse a young player with a core player.

A core represents the main pieces you are building around.

KP is the only guy who fits that description right now.

Maybe that changes.

Young player does not equal core.

Answer the question I asked you about Mills quote "several rising stars". Every time I mention this quote to someone they ignore it (you and Thugg). Who is Mills talking about?

How we always get the next star Knicks fans dream of. There's a reason why they call it a "pipe" dream.
