Every season people get their hopes up that a big name will sign with us. Other than Amare, when was the last time it actually happened? Chris Childs after his "all-star season"? Allan Houston?

if westbrook said he would like to come to the Knicks Westbrook. But since he didnt you always take the guy who does want to be here. and dont gamble on the guy who doesnt. we always lose when we do that. plus westbrook isnt going anywhere. guys walking into FA are going to become incredibly rare. especially the money hes going to get.

i dont think we could afford him anyway with THJ and Noah still aboard, we would have to fill out the team with d-leaguers. another reason it will never ever happen in a million years ever.
There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

Yeah but don't put us in the same situation as we did with Melo. Id rather miss out on Kyrie then trade all our assets.

No doubt but what's too much? Look back on what we traded for Melo. It was a ton.

Trading Melo (who were going to lose for nothing anyways), Frank (who could be good, average or bust) and a protected first is not that much for a young star like Kyrie.

Frank and the pick could be good or could be terrible. You can't bank on either. You have to assume somewhere in the middle. As far as Melo, he's gone anyways... to actually shed his salary without taking back a bad contract does us a favor more than Cleveland.

I agree with what you said is a fair offer. ID rather trade 2 protected first then give up one of our assets if possible. And I would rather trade Willy over Frank to be honest. Even though Frank is an unknown, KP is going to be a natural center and keeping Willy forces KP at major minutes at the 4.

Westbrook will be 29 or 30 by then? Meh, I'm good on him.
He's not leaving OKC anyway.

Why would Russell Westbrook leave OKC and join a lottery team? If he does Leave its for a team thats one piece away not a rebuilding Knicks with "potential" and all of this tank for porter and doncic talk needs to take a step back. Those are top-2 picks and we are definitely not worse than Indiana, Nets, hawks and bulls even with no PG at the moment.

I know a lot of people say their tired for trading for stars to be mediocre, but i say i'm tired of praying/hoping for a number 1 pick only to get stuck with our 7th pick so i'd rather not waste a season. We have a young star in KP who should have his jump in production in his third year and also have a higher usage rate. We have a serviceable Big in WHG who could anchor the second unit and Frank who I think would already be an elite 3 & D Player and can only improve from there. Why not bring in more young talent in Kyrie to pair with Tim and see how they develop. If you see its headed in the right direction than you can try and pair Noah with a 1st or Noah with WHG to unload and you would have the cap space to sign a 3rd star.

One reason I think Kyrie wants to leave is because the Cavs are who they are, they're strapped into their cap space even if lebron leaves and there would be no improvement meanwhile in the coming years as players expire we could look to improve every free agency.

But between the two options it really depends, If Melo and 2018 1st gets it done for Kyrie than I'm all for it...anything more than continue adding assets and hope one of them ascends into a superstar. I would love Russ but I really don't see him leaving a Contender like OKC for the lottery bound Knicks. He probably will leave OKC but it won't be for us, probably a team like the spurs or clippers. Teams that are a piece away from competing for a championship.

Westbrook would HATE NYC. OKC media already gets on his nerves. Imagine NY media on Westbrook? Oh man...someone is getting choked out.

Kyrie Irving is Knick bait.

Westbrook is overrated trash.

The dude is the biggest statpadder i've ever seen.

A team with westbrook as the 1st or 2nd option is never winning a ring

If he was trash and a statpadder he wouldn't be the only guy in the NBA to avg a triple doublh should since the big O, more players would be close but it's not even in the same ball park.

People disrespect Westbrook why? Because kd got a ring? You do get he joined 3 all stars? While Westbrook was the only above avg player on his team and made the playoffs with trash IN THE WEST....

Who cares about meaningless arbitrary stats? Basketball is not played by the box score like stat nerds would have us believe.

Westbrook gets triple doubles because everything is catered to him even at the expense of the team. For example, westbrook is allowed to not contest shots just so he can crash the boards early for his rebounds.

LOL@ OKC being full of trash. OKC should have elite defense but it doesnt because of chuckbrook's statpadding.

The idea of system basketball goes out the window because of westbrook. That's why the offense is very one dimensional and plummets in the playoffs.

The only thing westbrook truly is really good at is igniting the fast break and that alone is not good enough to put him as an elite player, especially when the defense is worse because of him.

Nobody disrespects westbrook. we are just calling him for what he is - a good player who is nowhere near as good as Lebron, durant, leonard, curry, even harden, AD, cp3, etc

Westbrook won games and look at his team your argument is based off you not liking him not him being trash. Cp3? You put cp3 on the thunder do they make the playoffs HELL NO, please stop.

AD wouldn't even make the playoffs with that thunder roster. You not liking a player doesn't make he's trash you are reaching.

Meaningless? Without Westbrook okc picking top 5

Because his playing style is too dominant for team oriented offense. 40 minutes of Westbrook trying to do something. His decision making is too reckless for a guy always wants the ball. Not gonna work against in good teams in a playoff series.

KD wanted championships, Westbrook wanted MVPs, crazy stats, being leading man etc. Both got reached their goals.

If you aim immediate but moderate success Westbrook is the man for it.

Hmmm no. okc just didn't have a good enough talent on the roster it is simple. All that bs is media driven. Westbrook is a damn top 5 player. All okc had was 2 stars lacked the offense behind kd and Westbrook the team simply wasn't ready.

It takes more than just 2 stars to win a ring nowadays. You need impact starters and potential huge games off the bench. All the hating on Westbrook is media bs, he's a great player and damn near the best athlete to ever play in the NBA just stop it.

OKC had championship roster for many years. They have failed because they couldn't put a team oriented offense thanks to Westbrook at point. It was all Durant and Westbrook taking turns.

I don't work for media so i say what i see on court. He won't make his team any better with Paul George too.
