Jonas Valanciunas an option for NYK?

Post#1 » by North_of_Border » Wed Jul 26, 2017 9:29 pm

The Raptors are looking to trade 24 year old former 5th overall big man. His value took a hit last season but just a year earlier he was highly sought after. He was a beast. Also signed a bargain contract for the next 2 seasons.

However the Raptors are not gonna give him away like Massai said. Nor are they gonna give draft picks to give him away. He woulda been traded by now if that was the case.... Raptors have salary cap issues and a glut at the centre position. Val is on the block.

Imagine Val and KP upfront.... no?

Sorry, Glen Grunwald isn't here anymore to give you picks for your less than compelling foreign centers.

No. We don't need to take another big man when we have KP Noah Willy and o Quinn. Definitely another big man that hasn't lived to his potential and has no signs of improving. We take multiple firsts and melo for him or no deal

What are you looking for? Honestly... Obviously any deal would have to involve Noah. That could make sense in regards to a 3-way deal where instead of TOR "dumping" Val, they instead obtain some lower cost options at a minimal price, NY takes on Val and pays the remainder of the "dump" fee to a third team that is either tanking or wants what Noah brings.

So all in all, it looks like we would be hard pressed to find a deal.

For BAT: I'd love to have him here in NY. Dude can create offense in the post. Can pass. And he's OK with being the third fiddle, and won't cause a problem if he doesn't get the ball. He's also a big boy who can bang down low.

For real: don't like his work ethic. He wouldn't do well here. Unless they want to take noah, I'm not interested

To add to what I said before:

Not sure who is getting the short end there really. Portland may feel that way since they are getting Noah, but they are effectively getting out of Leonard's contract entirely and filling a position of need. O'Quinn is a good player as well and likely can be moved for cap space or TPE mid-season. You guys cut a year off in salary AND get someone who actually rebounds. Knicks go full-hardaway and obtain a bunch of 25ish year old players who are overpaid. OKC adds veteran role players to make this seasons playoff run count.

Sure... trade him for Noah.
