Longevity is a thing.

Wow, poor Zbo. Does this screw him with the NBA, or does he have to fail a drug test to be in trouble? Sadly, the marijuana laws of this country are all over the place. "Turning good people into criminals, one smoke at a time."

i would cry z-bo a river, except there is good reason to believe he's been "the plug" for some time. remember a few years back when they popped a car in his name STUFFED with dro? i have no idea how he beat that charge.

but this time, benefit of doubt (in the court of public opinion at least) is gonna be stripped.

i wouldn't give two schidts if they caught him with a blunt or something. who gives a damn. but looks like he was bagged up and literally with some Gs starting foolishness. i hoped with all of my might that he was past all of this in his life.

If this is more than a blunt, it's really a sad way for him to go near the end of a nice career. He really helped give the Griz an identity and far outplayed what we thought he could be here in NY. But lots of guys have been hurt by drugs, and if this is more than him having a blunt (the words possession usually means they think it's only for personal use), then it looks like he screwed up his future.

I always think that with the money these guys earn, they'd do everything they could not to mess it all up. But time and time again, I've been wrong. Human nature is a b!tch.

for the most part, they really do. especially in the NBA. for all of the major sports, the NBA has the best-behaved, least-criminal athletes. the league's standards and structure have a lot to do with that. really a positive culture surrounding the NBA as opposed to say.... the NFL.

Baseball seems to have had more trouble with anabolic steroids than with recreational or addictive drugs. But even the NBA has had a few screwups.

well, i was talking about the big picture. though MLB does seem to have more problems with substance abuse (non-PEDS), i was also thinking about domestic violence, some violent crime (ugeth urbina). i was just thinking about how all you ever hear from the NBA is an occasional positive weed test. but maybe MLB is overall cleaner.

the NFL and NHL, i stand by.

i peeped that. i don't know about "always."

i think the NBA has a cleaner outcome and more positive public impact than it's given credit for, in contrast to the image some have of a league full of tattooed thugs. when it's really far from that.

i will say, all leagues have a problem with tolerance of domestic violence. you should lose it all if you do that. contract voided. banned from league. but we let these guys back on the court/field. it's our fault as a viewing public. if he was a d-boy, he'd be gone for good. i bet z-bo is toast if he gets convicted or pleads guilty.

You're right, of course. "Always" was an exaggeration - because every time it happens, it seems like it's too much. But on the whole, NBA players are good folks.

I don't have pics, but it did happen.

I was with a bachelor party and went to Churrascaria Plataforma tonight. I saw Lance Thomas and his girl there having dinner. We left at the same time so I got a good look. He got into what appeared to be an uber XL with homegirl and a youngish-looking guy.

Then I saw Alexis Texas in person. That was kind of a trip.

Oh wow did they? That's awesome. Shows they're really willing to listen to the fans input and be patient if that's the case
