Here's to many more years of Gaines asking life or death questions in a dashiki to NBA draft prospects.

What does Dolan have to do with anything?

Everything.

Are you saying Dolan made them draft Frank?

I'm sure he has quite a lot of influence. I'm also sure he could get another good job pretty easily if he wanted to.

Dolans not selecting draft picks. Some of you give Dolan way too much credit.

I would have expected Rambis to have already been let go. In all fairness at least let the guy have some time to find another gig. Maybe Magic would like him over in LA. I don't know. I cant imagine him still here for the upcoming season though, but maybe with Mills acting as "Phil's protégé" for a while he has come to learn Rambis has some value? I just don't see how he stays.

Ironically, Rambis is the closest we have to a Pat Riley disciple lol

Jeff likes him, they're friends from their Phoenix days, and Jeff has control of the coaching staff, which is why we let Longstaff go

I don't know that it was Jeff that choose not to renew him as much as it could have been Jackson. I remember in Jeff's presser when he was hired, that he mentioned his ties to Rambis. I'm sure he likes him, but I don't think Rambis would have been someone Jeff would have chosen for his staff, if not for Jackson wanting him to stay.

But yes, you bring up a valid possible reason how Rambis could stay on. They know each other, and its possible Jeff likes working with him now. I think its more possible that Jeff wants to assemble the best staff he can. Jeff is probably more interested in prolonging his career and giving himself the best shot at longevity.

I think Rambis is a goner

i bet he really was dallas' pick too. cuban's obsessed with looking slick. i don't buy that they tried to smokescreen themselves into DSJ with all those reports of them drooling over frank

Absolutely. Why would they need smokescreen? Even most of the fans thought Frank fits Phil Jackson picks most… or maybe Monk.

It doesn't take a genius DSJ does not fit what he wanted to achieve in NY. Also he didn't work out for us pre-draft etc.

It's just Mark Cuban trying to look smart & stay popular. He was same in early years in Mavs before they had a good team to sell tickets. He just wants to hype up Mavs fans so keep the teams popularity in lottery years.

They said they didn't think DSJ would drop to them. When Isaac & Lauri were picked 6th & 7th, they were rooting for us to take Frank.

I'm not denying they had interest in Frank. I just doubt that if we had chosen Monk, they would of chosen Frank over DSJ.

Carlisle has made the likes of Barea and Failderon look good at PG. DSJ under his tutelage could become an All NBA player.

We got a good prospect. So did they.

hey look, with scott perry we kind of at least look like we have a competent front office. next step is to fire kurt who was forced on jeff and who according to reports is disliked by everyone on the roster. hes also the last link to Phil. we need to purge like we did with Isiah.

Yeah?

We're like a 32 win team right now

While KP/Willy should improve, and THJ is better than Lee, we still have no quality point guards (Baker and Sessions are backups at best, and Frank is a rookie PG which is never a positive), Melo will decline even further (and will still try to be the focal point of the offense), and we have a subpar bench

Plus, we don't know what the Melo trade will look like, and there's no chance the players we get from it will make us better this year than if we kept him

Lottery team
