Has Phil been at all vocal about his firing?

Post#1 » by Knicksfan20 » Tue Aug 22, 2017 6:56 am

I havnt seen or heard anything. I don't have twitter so I don't know if he posted anything on there. A bit surprising with how much he liked to talk, he hasn't said anything.

He's playing it cool, and just waiting for all the offers to come in for being President of another team...

And waiting....

And waiting....

didn't understand why rosen kind of trashed baker though. i get that kp and willy were on melo's side but baker considered phil a friend and he was one of the few players that was fully committed to the triang;e. why would they call him a back-up pg when he could very well someday become a eric snow, kirk hinrich type pg if he can just improve his jumper.

I wonder if he had to sign any kinda non-disclosure...doubt he'd do that but maybe he would for a short time span which would just give him time to put together a book deal.

I have almost completely put the Phil era behind me and through selective memory almost forget he was here

He probably has a gag order as part of his buyout package. I doubt he can say anything critical until the end of his contract.

I think Dolan already had agreed to pay Phil for the last two years. Oops. :noway:

Haven't heard a word. For all of his faults/mistakes, he's the 1st GM to leave this franchise better off than he inherited. He drafted or signed ALL of our youth except Timmy (and Baker 2.0). He acquired picks mostly and KEPT ALL OF OUR FIRSTS. This rebuild is mostly his doing. I will always appreciate that. Glad he's gone. Sad it didn't quite work out for him but...other than Noah and the NTC...it's working out pretty damn well for the team.

Thanks Phil. Now STFU AND GTFO!

If I were getting to go home and collect $24 million, I would have nothing bad to say about anyone.

8/13/17

"I'm still on hold about WTF just went down the past 3 years of Knick basketball," Jackson said to veteran NBA journalist Peter Vecsey, according to his Patreon account (paywalled, h/t HoopsHype). "In that regard, I'm not angry, but disappointed I couldn't fulfill the mission. Winning is a priority in NY and I couldn’t get those guys into at least a .500 season so we could get some free space to rebuild."

Yea, I don't recall hearing Phil was anything but fired.

GREAT sequence of events:
1. Guarantee Phil's last 2 years
2. Phil does Draft
3. Phil Phired, after dissing KP, etc.
4. Mills signs THJr
5. Then they decide to hire a GM.

So, Phil enjoys his $24M to sit on a chaise by the lake. He says, "I dream of Jeannie."

I think Phil dissed KP before the draft. Phil not only did the draft but then got to sign undrafted players. I believe the last one was Artis who Phil signed 4 days before Dolan fired him. What I want to know is, what happened in those intervening 4 days?
