you mean his well documented prior incidents of trying to fight security? Yeah has no relevance...either he has a chemical imbalance or was drunk those times..

I'm not saying its irrelevant. I'm saying cause and effect. If the thing with the Cleveland locker room thing is true then yes its ridiculous.

First of all, if Oakley paid his own $$ to go to that game, he can say whatever the FK he wants like everyone else does.

No matter what you don't confront him like that. They confronted him because Dolan didn't like what Oak was saying. That's all ego.

I don't see these scenarios happening with any other teams.

Dolans comments after about him being a drunk were slanderous. Pretty sure Dolan hits the whisky pretty hard. He has the look.

Maybe some of you are younger, but once a knick always a knick WAS our identity and our history. Dolan couldn't give a chit about that. That's a fact

This is the thing. Just because one party acts inappropriately doesn't give another party the right to act inappropriately in response. That's how people get arrested for defending themselves. For not taking a available appropriate way out.

It's something I've noticed more and more over the years. Where people use others inappropriate actions as an excuse to venomously speak and act out. Like it's an opportunity to vent anger or express negative feelings. It's become more common it seems. There's one type of situation where it shows it's ugly face more times than others. But I'm not going to go that way with it.

The bottom line is this. Regardless of how inappropriate Oakley acted, MSGs pr team and Dolan himself responded in a very unprofessional manner. They could have simply apologized to fans, expressed regret that it came to what it came to, and declined any further comment. They could have even been classy about it. Praising Oakleys past work with the organization while expressing said regret. And there wouldn't be any grounds for a lawsuit.

That's how a professional organization would have handled it. Instead they made it personal. Escalating it. Taking the opportunity to attack his character several times. Tried to justify their actions live on air by calling him names and putting him down. As if it wasn't only his behavior that night that lead to them physically removing him and having him arrested.

They even released evidence to justify their actions. But actually ended up making it look more premeditated. As if they were preparing for this in advance and allowed him in for it.

Which immediately lead to a damage control effort. The firing of the head of security. Inviting other past estranged knicks to be his personal guests. And I hate to say this. But I'm suspicious some of his off season personnel decisions were in some part related to that damage control.

They were dead wrong. Is Oakley milking it? Of course he is. He's going to get paid. Don't confuse the situation. MSG was way out of line for going the extra mile AFTER he was removed. It was unprofessional, inappropriate, excessive, and personal in nature. They made that choice and it's going to cost them.

Seems like a case of I don't like this guy and I want him out...so Dolan made his move, and now Oak has made his.
I don't how this will play out , but this is why we have a court system...worse Dolan publicly slandered Oak by calling him an alcoholic.

Yes another circus heading into the season...why must everything @ MSG be so ugly all the time?

I'm probably in the minority, but I loved Oak as a player and and dislike like him off the court. I think Dolan is an ****, but there are two sides to every story. Bottom line...I hope they both stfu and gtfo. Im tired of the endless drama with this once proud and highly resoected franchise.

Dolan is a huge Trump supporter.

At a time when the NBA has gone hard to its left by openly admonishing Donald Trump - from coaches publicly maligning the nascent President of the United States, to players saying they would boycott any visit to the White House - James Dolan pivoted right with big bucks.

Less than two months prior to the election - and after Trump revealed his divisive plans to build a wall and ban Muslims - the Garden chairman pledged $300,000 to fundraising committee 'Trump Victory,' according to public records reviewed by the Daily News.

In January, Dolan made news when a magazine published details of a contentious meeting he held with the Rockettes, whom he also oversees (Radio City Music Hall is among his MSG company’s holdings), over his booking of them to perform at Trump’s inauguration. When one dancer told him, “It just sounds like you’re asking us to be tolerant of intolerance,” he reportedly replied, “Yeah, in a way, I guess we are doing that."

There was video of Oakley getting knocked down by security before he put his hands on them. I am not excusing his actions, but they were also being aggressive in the situation. The consequences though look like they are going to work out for Oakley, because of MSG's actions after the incident. See kane2021's post above yours. He explained it well.
