frank has a lot to learn. As does every rookie. Josh Jackson and Fox need to become a better shooter, DSjr/Mitchell need to become a better distributors...Frank needs to become more assertive. It's clear as day. The learning process might take a year or two.

Your proving my point (in terms of the bold)...frank didn't grow up on the streets of NY or in an AAU system that promotes individuality. He has been drilled to be a playmaker and think team first (he is a heady player and tends to look to distribute even when the situation calls for him to shoot). It's going to take a lot more than 11 games for him to break a habit.

I would probably bet that it at least takes him another full offseason to show the offensive aggression we all are looking for...

Nothing stopping him from starting to do it now. He has had several wide open looks that his body wanted to take instinctively but, you could see him pull it down and pass it off. Thinking too much about the miss. He had a perfect look at a 3 last night to tie the game in the end and he passed out off to Timmy for 2.

We needed scoring in Orlando and that's when I really noticed it with him.

I agree it takes time and all of that but, it's gonna be a problem if he never helps score. 5ppg is not gonna cut it.

you do realize Giannis scored 6.8 ppg in 25 minutes his rookie year right? Also Kawhi scored about 7-8ppg in similar minutes as well. Some guys just don't come into the league with a scorers mentality...I am not going to write his offensive production off yet but I just letting you know sometimes its happens to the best of em. Do you think the bucks fans really care about Giannis scoring 6ppg in his rookie year now? It comes down to where frank is a year or two from now in my eyes. This is a learning process...

I would be happy with 7ppg  I get your point. He can still take open looks when he gets them. I'm not even trying to be down on the kid. He just needs to shoot the ball if he's not going to penetrate. Keep the defense honest. I'm sure it will come with time. What better time though than to take an open look? In crunch time? He's done it before.

I love the kid. I'm also being impatient to a degree. I just want to see him shooting/driving more this year. Even if he sucks at it. It's a noticeable weakness right now.

my man I don't have an issue with anything you say. I might disagree with it doesn't mean I don't respect your opinion. Why would we stop having convos on a message board?

I guess I don't come from the be more aggressive or else camp, you consider it babying I consider it part of the player development process...all good. We just see it differently. We both thought very highly of frank before the draft and wanted the knicks to pick him, I guess I thought you coming from the frank camp would understand this would take some time...as long as he continues to be productive in other ways I will let him continue to develop at his own pace rather than force him to be more aggressive now.

FAM STOP IT.

You cant say with a straight face that anyone has any ultimatums on Frank. Why you even going there bro.

Image

if thats all you picked up from that post...well I dont know at this point. We will just agree to disagree. I didn't mean it as an ultimatum just was pointing out some people are getting on him a little to early in his career for things we knew he probably would struggle with his rookie year. You called it "babying" from my POV. I call it being patient...

yeah its all I picked up cause its crazy and should not even be said if you really understand me. This is what I mean by you keep pushing the issue on whats said by people. You dont even understand the angle after it was said to you a million times. You sit there and make up some BS camp of aggression that don't even exist. You are proving everything thing I said to KT ,who I assume is also in the aggression or else camp, since we both say the same things. how people take what people say on Frank, and make up schit or hear what they want to hear is beyond me. And you had that dude saying we are agreeing . You talk about thats all you took from my post....but then respond before with " Agression or Else camp" :-?. You say this is a message board, yet have issues all the time by what said by those from the Frank camp as if they are saying something foul about him.

Your Problem is because I knew Frank would have struggles his rookie year, I have no right to say I want to see him improve on certain things in the context of the situation, That makes no damn sense. There is nobody who rode out for Frank stronger than me, before me, and I can't even say I want him to shoot more when he has the opportunity???

You sound crazy about the patient stufft....cause again you are acting like I said earlier... You say Frank has an opportunity to shoot on an open sot and he passed it up...you asking him to be Iverson.

Asking him to take an open shot does not mean you are not patient. It means You recognize he should take an open shot. But when you see that. Your brain interprets as....Become Kyrie Irving by the weekend.

the notion that frank has to find his offense 13 or 14 games into the season is non-sense. he still has a large window to figure that out. yes he should at least be taking those wide open jumpers, but hes already making strides into his development. hopefully he will get there.

but with that said, we definitely need a starting caliber PG to lead this team until Franks ready for that role. if he ever is. its not fair to the rest of the team, whos playing their hearts out, to be stuck with JJ for the remainder of this season. thats not a shot at JJ, or Frank, its just one is past his prime, and the other isnt ready yet. both are bench players on any other team in the league. we need to make a move with one of these centers, for a higher quality PG. and that will only help in Franks development to have a better, truer mentor.

Utter nonsense. The most important trait you want to see in a young player is his will to compete and a passion to play the game. Goes almost unspoken.

My simple scouting on Frank so far is this:

- Youngest player getting minutes in the NBA, yet plays with legit poise of a 5 year vet.
- Already a top tier defender. Something that will be there every night. 7 foot wingspan, feathery feet, and desire.
- Already a very promising passer. Up near the top of the league in Assists per 36. Always looking to make plays.
- Has nice form on his jumper, and has already hit some big shots. 38% from three in France.
- Has been taking it to the hole a little more and more. Has also had many open lanes, but he's just so unselfish. Plenty athletic enough to get into the paint.

To me he has all the tools, and has already flashed everything I needed to see. Now we just got to be patient, and let him figure things out in his head.

uhm. he has been playing with a will to compete, and plenty of passion, and when did i ever say i didnt want to see it ? was that the unspoken part ?

or because i dont need to see him scoring 20 plus a game 13 games into his career, when he was a project player to begin with. hes either going to get there, or he isnt. cryng about it already is the true utter nonsense.

Uhm.. I was adding to your post. I'm inferring people on here don't really emphasize it.. not you specifically. But your mindset is always negatively slanted so you probably thought I was taking a shot at you when I most definitely wasn't.. you'd a known if I was taking a shot at you if anywhere in my post it said you or your or vallen.

See.. I bolded what I believe is utter nonsense... the unfair expectations you pointed out that people are having with frank's game.. that should've cued you in on me agreeing with you and then adding more.

Crazy to think Frank could be our PG for the next 15+ years.

Forget about what people are saying, we are supposed to be in rebuilding mode. A few wins shouldnt change our mindset. We all want everything in a NY minute, but we need to develop this guy first.
He is also trying to learn the NBA game, where fans think 1 on 1 basketball is how you win games. Lebron, Ball and Frank all are pass first guys, so font know why he had shyt to say about Franks game.

Frank, we know your working. We needed s PG and not a Shooting guard, so perfect your craft.

This year, I do expect you to make 90 percent of your FTs, play solid defense, not to force it and turn the ball over and take what the defense gives you.

Alright...go get em!

It was an open jumper off of a screen - not a bad shot by any means - but he came out at the next whistle. Didn't like it one bit. Hornacek himself says he wants him to be more aggressive, but he takes a open shot and misses and immediately gets taken out. And I don't really buy that he was coming out there anyway, considering this happened after the 1st play of the 4th quarter. Not sure how that helps with his confidence.

11:47 Frank Ntilikina misses 23-foot jumper 61 - 76
11:44 Kyle Korver defensive rebound 61 - 76
11:39 Kyle O'Quinn personal foul 61 - 76
11:24 Kyle Korver misses 26-foot three point jumper 61 - 76
11:23 Cavaliers offensive team rebound 61 - 76
11:23 Kyle O'Quinn loose ball foul 61 - 76
11:23 Jarrett Jack enters the game for Frank Ntilikina 61 - 76

I was definitely thinking tank early in the year, but after seeing KP take this next step, I'm fine with us winning. It's only a good thing that we can't tank because our young stud is too good. That said, it should still be more important for us that Frank develops than it is for us to be a playoff team.

BINGO

Someone finally says the truth.

Jeff is intolerant of young guys. His treatment toward KP last year and crap like this proves it.

Nice write up. He is going to be compared to DJ for years but I am happy and getting happier by the day when I compare them two.
I see Dallas with 2 wins and DJ is getting some assists, like 5 a game, but they are not winning, just like College. Do we have another "great" talent like Marbury who isn't really a two way player (many assists on drives and kicks).

One thing about Frank that shocks me, well two, he does lead the team like a vet, and related, damn can he pass the ball. He is great at getting the ball to cutters. He needs to improve in other forms of passing, but his height - he uses well. Frank truly is making the team noticeably better and I want him in there to start and in the 4th. His offense is coming along.

He's gonna have to improve his 3s, but most Euros, including Dirk and Peja, needed a year to get used to an NBA three. Once he gets that down, he's gonna have a positive effect on offense just by stretching the floor, and we know he's a defensive stud. And then from there, he can improve his skills.

That is def true regarding the 3's. It seems like it happens to almost every Euro that they need at least year to adjust to the distance...even KP was shaky from 3 his first year.
