The offseason is over - new beginnings
The offseason is finally over and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Honestly, nobody knows how this season is going to turn out. We can end up the 8th seed (I give this next to no chance) or somewhere between 10-13/14. Regardless of where we end up, this season is going to be fun. Why? It's not about wins and losses, it's strictly about player development.
If we develop our guys with KP as the focal point, Frank looks like a stud, Willy continues his improvements, etc and still end up as the 14 team in the east, it's a successful season. If we end up as #8, they end up with playoff experience, it can be viewed as a success as well because that means our guys are legit (even if it comes at the cost of a better pick). Personally, I want to see our guys develop and would rather us end up with a high lottery pick (Doncic, please) than make the playoffs, only to be swept in 4...but that's not what this thread is about.
We finally have a young team with promise. No sideshow antics from management or players - just guys committed to the Knicks and working hard on both ends of the ball.
With all of the terrible **** going on in the world, it's nice having Knicks basketball back. Even though we may disagree on players, management, coaching, politics, Giants ( ) or Jets, or whatever else, I love talking ball with you guys and I'd be willing to bet you guys feel the same about posting here as well...otherwise you wouldn't be here.
Here's to a great season filled with excitement, player development, and watching our young guys grow with no pressure. Cheers, guys (insert favorite drink below).

Got to say, this is the most optimistic I've been about the Knicks since '09. Really excited for this year. An entertaining 37 wins is my prediction.

Victor Oladipo - Wes Matthews - Javon Carter
Caris LeVert - Derrick Jones Jr. - Glenn Robinson III
Andre Igoudala - Killian Tillie - Trey Lyles

it would be thrilling to see the young guys develop over the course of the year and still get a top 3 pick

I don't think you understand what whining is if you think that is whining.

Re: The offseason is over - new beginnings
I agree KT. Finally, they seem to be succumbing to what they are and are building the pool. The direction the team needed to take since 2004 after they traded Camby and Spree and it was clear Houston and McDyess weren't ever going to be the same. There's no guarantee of anything but it's where this franchise needs to start from.
Dotson looked good too. Comfortable with a good pace for the game. Didn't force anything. Hopefully he's a long term contributor.

Pretty sure the Knicks are going to do all of the above.
Feature KP. Frank will play. Team Ball. And they'll not be that good, so tank is on.
Sorry to tamper your enthusiasm.
Figured with coach Hornacek putting his "stamp" on the team we'd see ball movement and player movement. minus the first quarter, I saw a lot of standing around in the half court (minus McDermott who brought this trait with him). And while it wasn't completely ISO, Knicks don't going to confuse anyone with prime era Celtics or the Warriors anytime soon, passing wise.
Defense shows team still can't scheme, still can't defend the 3 and Hornacek wasn't flashing a quick hook for guys who lost their man or who slacked on effort, even though he has a roster where players 4-12 are about the same talent level wise, so it's not like he can't send a "message".

i almost cried last night, watching actual team basketball for the first time in years.
they're young, so there should be expectations of lapses. i'm so **** excited for this year, and the next few.
