If Kanter keeps playing the way he is now and has defensive metrics to prove he's improved defensively, you don't think he would opt out and try to get a long term deal (here or elsewhere?)

I believe him when he says this is where he wants to be. If we make the playoffs I think we might negotiate a longer deal around 16 mil that gives him security and saves us a little next year.

Jeff had a mean streak when he played and he's been much more intense this season.

I'm concerned with the demeanor of our players more than wins. Are they excited, do they try, can he push them and have them respond well? If he **** up a substitution or whatever I'm over it, I'd still rather get the #2 pick than make finish 10th in the East.

I don't think he should be, either. No matter how unpopular of an opinion that's been on here...I've been a fan of keeping him on board because of what he brings on the court, but off the court + the mentality he has, that's what we need

So far, I don't think it's translated to much.

Knicks barely won that Utah game. I was there at MSG and they by rights deserved to lose if not for a lot of sloppy play cost Utah. They didn't show any heart vs Toronto.

That's why I'm not so quick to jump on that, "Oh Jeff's offense without the triangle..." This is STILL Phoenix style ball. It's a 3-ring circus that will shoot you in and out of games but as it NEARS playoff time, ultimately comes up short because there's no defensive flavor to it.

Kanter is the first guy the Knicks have acquired who was previously coached by Hornacek. There is probably some loyalty there

What Horny should have taken is that he helped lose the game and put the Knicks in a tailspin with lax management of the game.

He's missing the Win steak for the LeBron potatoes.
