Games into the season, despite the fact that we are going to the lottery like we’ve been doing and OKC is most likely going to end up in the conference finals? We all know it takes time for teams to gel when they add stars and we all
Know we just loss to the **** Hawks. The replies in here are just like wow

And OKC is losing to teams like Orlando.

And?

Guess the Knicks are perfect too.

Yes. I had been saying for years on this board how the team's future would benefit from ridding ourselves of Melo regardless of what we got back in a trade...

Looking back on it, getting Kanter, Buckets, and a 2nd round pick was + value for the Knicks.

Melo at 33 is not conducive to winning NBA games anymore until he learns his role. Melo is the kind of player that only gives you good value if he's your lead guy, and if he's your lead you aren't going anywhere.

This is the reality thread. Kanter/Doug much better than Melo in a team setting.

Melo was not the issue with this team previously. I think the major issue was the front office's failure to get a good point guard to control the game. Look when we had Kidd playing he was under control and we won over 50 games.
Then PJ tried to make every body a triangle player and did not have the pieces then the bad mouthing by PJ sent things lower and lower. Melo was Melo here a scorer first.
I think both teams won once the thunder players learn to play with each other they should be good.
People blaming melo are haters and I am a knick's fan but the front office failed time after time to get the correct players around him, that is not melo's fault that is failure on the front office.
Melo now he is older needs to learn his role as the 3rd scorer and he will be fine where ever he goes.

Discussing the trade is a perfectly normal topic

The only baiting going on here is calling this a bait thread

I really do wonder what would have happened if we traded for Rubio...

With Melo, things would be been way worse with a 7-13 record by now.

Melo just stagnant the team.

Clyde_Style wrote:Short Answer: Yes, by a landslide

Doug could become a very good long-term piece, but Kanter is the key here.

What this franchise has no choice about is as long as they are building around KP they will need a lunch pail monster in the paint. But Kanter is more than a blue collar guy, he's on his way to becoming a legit star in his own right.

For all the fluff said about the way the league plays now, every team has different considerations based on whom they are building around. And the Knicks are building around a player unlike anyone else in the league.

KP requires Kanter to thrive. KP requires a Kanter. Other teams may not require a Kanter, but we do.

It really is that simple. And you really couldn't do any better than Kanter.

So when anyone wants to talk about players who make others around them better, they have to look no further than Kanter.

Kanter is vastly more valuable to the Knicks now than Melo could possibly be so on that point alone the trade is a massive win.

Add in Doug and the pick and it was a home run.

Melo is cooked. We fleeced OKC.

Perfect summation of the situation.

I not sure if we " won"

But

We received two lotto picked players that have size and NBA Skill.

They are both 25 and should be entering their primes, and getting better.

Contracts were not long and albatross

The players seems like high character guys

And we got a pick to help our rebuild on the fly.

And most importantly, it allowed KP to be the alpha of the team

I really do wonder what would have happened if we traded for Rubio...

He would have passed to Melo and the jab step ISO king would have stopped ball movement and chucked bricks. He's got RFW at the point and PFG on the wing. 9-12. Rubio wouldn't have made a bit of difference. Glad he's gone.

Melo takes 4 iso shots a game for them while taking 5 catch and shoot 3’s for them.

Have you watched the games? How he played here is not what’s happening over there. Even his defense is better, though there was no place to go but up

PG shot 2-17 and Russ shot 9-22 tonight.

Melo? 4-10.

Special shout out to those that wanted to cut him or trade him for Anderson.

Thankfully Perry is in charge.

Yeah...and? What does him over there have to do with him here and Rubio passing him the ball? He HAS to defer there. He never would here.

The trade worked in our favor for a change. I don't care what happens to Melo or OKC honestly. It worked out well for us. That never happens.

Funny thing is....Olympic Melo would be a great fit here. 3rd option catch and shoot Melo.

At least with Ron you can just send him to the D League or keep him on the bench. With Melo you have to watch 30+ minutes of fatboy basketball

We got Chicago's 2nd round pick this coming draft. Better than nothing.
