People are arguing about Frank's assist making capability, but it's clear as day now why Phil wanted him for the triangle...play solid defense, shoot your open shots, get out of the way of the system....like Hezi and others have said, the kid can make direct line passes but is not a creator....doesn't see what's going to happen 2, 3 steps ahead. He's like Carmelo in a sense, has the craftiness to make nice passes if a guy takes it upon himself to get open, but lacks the vision or skill to create it out of nothing.
It's why he dumps the ball to a big all the time to set up the offense...dude....you have a coach who is pining for aggressive point guard play, leave your Frenchiness behind and seize it...when he realizes that I think he can be good.
The kid isn't a point guard yet...he doesn't direct teammates, he doesn't set them up for open jump shots, doesn't manage the shot clock.....just likes to mostly give the ball up and get out of the way and let the motion/cuts lead to points.....system player. Phil was on point considering what he was looking for.
Unfortunately, that's not what Jeff wants or needs anymore...he's a guy who wants to give his pg the reigns to run the offense and make decisions....once again, it's the wrong match of what the coach wants, the players want to do, and what the organization provides.....Amare/Melo/Dantoni/Walsh type ****.
