Pop is a legend but let's not act as if every player he gets his hands on turns to gold. He almost ran Aldridge out of town before realizing he was over-coaching him. I still can't see us letting go of Willy unless we get an offer we can't refuse.

They are not trading Willy.

It seems the front office has informed the media they are geared towards 2019 and are not concerned whether players like Kanter or KOQ are still on the team today or tomorrow.

Willy is so cheap they will want to keep him and see if he is ready to be a key contributor by 2019.

If a good deal comes along for the other centers I can see a trade happening, but not for Willy. He's actually more safe to remain a Knick than anyone else IMO.

I couldn't agree more. 2019 is the clear plan and I'm not sure why anyone thinks they are dealing Willy. No reason to go nuts this deadline, with the exception of moving Lee's deal. We are in a great position for 2019 with that amazing FA class.

They're also interested in Stanley Johnson. So, let's cut out the middleman and trade Willy for Stanley :-)

Agreed as well. I would trade Lee now as he is at peak value and could net a legit draft pick. If he doesn't yield a pick I would also sit on him since he will remain a cost effective solid contributor for the rest of his deal. He still could be dealt in an upcoming trade period even if the right offer doesn't come along this time.

I'm open to trading KOQ and Kanter for similar reasons, but management is obviously not going to take on additional longer contracts to move them. They would rather let them walk if they want to test the market in the off-season.

So I don't expect much to happen.

No action can be a good thing sometimes.

Good to hear and it makes sense. And tbh, San Antonio will of course, try to underpay. I would trade Willy if we can get a defensive presence there, but Willy actually fits in with KP in that way (once KP puts on some weight in the next 2 years or so.)

But like a great Coach he found a way to work it out with Aldridge. We need more of that in a Coach for the Knicks. I would honestly like to see what they would do with Frank but they are good with Murray at PG.

Right, obviously we all want a coach like Pop. Problem is, those guys rarely come around. There are only a handful of decent coaches in the league. Hopefully we can snag a diamond in the rough a la Stevens.

See that is the thing though. He almost but he didn't. He adopted instead of giving up on the dude. That is what makes him great. He makes it work.
