He's gonna opt in on that....

i'd say so.

it's not max. it's $4.5m, less than 5% of the cap we weren't going to be spending anywhere else.

Do we get an injury exception in this situation? Could be useful in a trade

Neither will Kanter:

Enes Kanter, coming off his second 20-20 explosion, is having a monstrous season. He has an $18.9 million player option for next season and is not expected to opt out to become a free agent.

Really doesn't matter. They are looking towards 2019 FA, not next year. Kanter and Baker opting in or out changes nothing.

You knew it was bad cause Baker is one tough dude and he looked in pain. He's an awful player but he's our awful player. He has almost no talent but the guy plays his heart out. He's the ideal 12th man minimum salary goon.

When we resign Kanter next year, he'll be at a sweet spot age, so when his contract is up, he'd be like 31 or so.

Basically, he'll be in his Prime for the length of his Knicks' tenure. :D

Bummer. Dude played as hard or harder than anyone on the team. Im sure he was a great practice player, excellent teammate. But hey, let the Baker hate continue as if the $4M would have been spent on some unknown savior.

Disappointing season. Only played 29 games.

Needs to be more lethal shooting the 3 ball, he has the ability to be a solid 3pt shooter but its not as consistent as it should be. But then again its not like he has the chance to shoot more of those since our offense is likely ranked close to last in 3PA as a team.

He may be overpaid, but I do like what Baker brings to the team. Has been a good defender in his limited minutes, just needs to be more efficient out there.
