It gives us depth at the power forward spot, which we didn't have at all prior to the trade.
Beasley and Thomas were all we had at the 4, and Thomas is more of a SF. We now have a 3rd string or back-up power forward in O'Bryant.
With KP gone, our depth chart is much more balanced...
G: Jarrett Jack / Trey Burke / Frank Ntilikina
G: Courtney Lee / Damyean Dotson
F: Tim Hardaway Jr / Doug McDermott
F: Michael Beasley / Lance Thomas / Johnny O'Bryant
C: Enes Kanter / Kyle O'Quinn / Joakim Noah

I always wanted the Knicks to get one of the r*tarded looking players like Jokic or Kuzma or Denzel Valentine and now I have my wish come true.

24 years old too
Not a terrible pick up
Dude, he's averaging 3.5 and 2.5 across two NBA seasons and is on his 4th team already.
He sucks. The Knicks actually went out and found a player worse and Lance Thomas and added him to the team. It's actually impressive.

Re: Johnny O'Bryant
We needed a PF to eat some minutes, real thin at that position, he'll help us field a team since we're required to play.

i know we just traded for him but this guy is not worthy of his own thread and will never make an impact on this team. I have never been less excited about a player the knicks acquired

Please don't sugar coat it. The guy sucks. He's a scrub. All this does is ensure us that we will not compete for a long time. A REALLY LONG TIME.
Make the Knicks great again!

Geez, he's just a role player. We don't need much out of him besides hitting the open three, free throw, or grabbing a rebound or two.
In the 18 games this season in which O'Bryant has gotten 10 to 19 minutes of playing time, here are his numbers:
14.8 mpg
6.9 ppg
3.7 rpg
41.4% 3pt fg's
94.1% ft's
Willy might have more talent, but O'Bryant can fit a role on just about any team in the league.

FOH Johnny O'Bryant has made 1st team all NBA Black Irish for 4 years.

Maybe its just me but this guy reminds me of lance thomas, he seems really sloppy with the ball and slow.

Guy isn't even making the team haha. He's getting waived. This trade has now become dumber.
