OT: What will it take for there to be a Gun Reform?

Post#1 » by NYKHardKnock » Thu Feb 15, 2018 6:43 pm

After yesterday's tragic even in Parkland, Florida, we need to redefine the word 'terrorism', and I've been stating this for ever it seems. As a white male, as citizens, we put it out there according to trump that we must keep Muslims and ISIS out, and having the wall build is the biggest issues we are supposedly facing.. 1000% wrong. White american people are the biggest terrorists in modern time and it's not even close.

Read on Twitter

If these events aren't labled as terrorism then I don't know what else it is. It's a shame we have to worry about each and every corner we turn, each and every day you never know what school, what city, etc is going to get shot up leaving pools of blood on the floor and destroying families. The NRA needs to go, because if you ask me, they're the murderers, they have caused all of this. The prices for guns and bullets are so dirt cheap and as easy as going to best buy to buy a flat screen tv.

Watching the videos of these poor children body's lying on the floor with pools of blood in yesterdays horrible tragedy will never leave my mind, god only knows how much it's tattoed into the mind of the students in that High School.

Something needs to be done. I don't know anymore I'm losing faith.

I found this on Twitter, such a powerful poem that needs to be noticed.

Read on Twitter

We dont need anymore prayers for the families, we need to ACT for the families. We need peace of mind and justice for the families as well as the future.

Rest in peace to the beautiful young souls lost in the event yesterday.

Nothing will be done

Once Sandy Hook happened, and we let it be known that it's okay for kids to be gunned down in their schools, we passed the point of no return

F*ck these people, man. All of 'em, and their NRA money. Dudes sold us out for dirt cheap too

It will probably take a prominent GOP figure having one of their children killed in a school shooting.

It's unfathomable that an 18 y/o can buy an assault rifle in this country, let alone with minimal resistance. The FL school had an armed security officer and it didn't matter. Gun nuts don't care, they will never change their mind. Their next suggestion will be to arm every teacher and eventually every student. Because having hundreds of guns in every school will surely lead to fewer incidents.

There’s definitely a middle ground... I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to have common sense reform... it’s not rocket science.

Gun nuts won't give an inch because they believe it would be the start of an eventual complete ban on guns.

Obama was in office for Sandy Hook and nothing happened. Who's in the White House is irrelevant when it comes to this issue, unfortunately.

Theoretically, I don't think any of this interferes with responsible gun owners' ability to own a gun. Just a bit of added delay. I posted these on facebook and by and large second amendment heads didn't have a problem with them. One of my friends did argue that the limited magazine gives an advantage to home invaders but honestly, I'd trade that in if we could get the other four options.

Simple things Congress could do about gun violence:
• Limit magazine capacity
• Ban domestic abusers from owning (not just buying) guns
• Expand background checks
• Mandate waiting periods
• Allow the CDC to study gun violence

Take some of the money out of politics.

Of course that won't happen either.

I know this is not popular, but I think we should simply ban all guns. Period. Don't give me that garbage about the constitution and the right to bear arms. Different times. If people want to walk around with a musket, go for it.

If not this, it should be damn near impossible for ANYONE to get one. Psych test, background check, and prying into every nook and cranny of that person's life. Don't care.

I still think Chris Rock was on the money with addressing bullets...

Especially with soooooo many guns already in circulation.

problem is so many states see guns as natural right. and our constitution kind of says as much. [as we all know, the document was written at a time when guns meant muskets and you could only get off one shot per minute or something.]

the problem becomes, who can't have a gun? you'd think most of us would agree on the mentally ill, but not even.

america's gun culture is the problem. it's not even the laws. it's our mentality. we are the most savage, murderingest ass place on earth. there are so many guns per capita already, there's nothing that can really be done EXCEPT have less of them.

we got guns here like fast food. it's just ubiquitous. growing up in NY, i had no clue. a few people had tools in the hood. i go down south to see my famly, and as jay-z put it, "hall closet cluttered with heat." and that's everybody on the block. i was like, "it's that serious?" and not making a nas joke, but my cousin literally told me, "down here that's how everybody get down."
RIP magnumt

welcome home, thibs.

I think it's a pretty popular opinion, especially among younger folks, but there's no chance in hell it ever happens. I'd support it; I'm not afraid of the government or home invaders to the point where I feel I need a gun. If there's a gov't uprising (like the hypothetical one gun nuts fear), your tiny gun collection isn't going to save you from a damn thing.

A constitutional amendment.

Aside from closing the gun show loophole, there are few things that are compatible with the 2nd & 4th Amendments and would actually be effective.
