Damn it, Sonny. Doing fairly well too until this inning. Even had two quick outs to start with.

Not sure if he is gonna make it in NY, or anywhere the way his season is going.

I actually don't know the name. I am a bit split on Gray. He has really shown flashes, so I'm not sure if it is a NY thing or just a Gray thing (his injury really might be the reason.) Let's see what he does. We have a GREAT and DEEP farm system, we can get pitching at some point, but I prefer to grow from within...

Ed Whitson

Remember that guy was lights out with the Padres in 1984, then wilted in the Bronx. Scared the piss out of him to perform well.

I just think this was a simple case of a pitcher wanting that one pitch back. If you add the first game before the rain delays, the Yanks won 2/3.

Now comes Tampa on Ron Guidry day!

Ed is the all time extreme example of a guy with good stuff just not wired to pitch in NYC.

I don't think that's the case with Gray and he's pitched better lately. He basically seems like a quality #3 pitcher. Good, but he'll get beat up occasionally. Did they trade more than a #3 pitcher usually fetches in value? I don't think so.

His ERA at home is abysmal. He does not have what it takes to pitch here. His performance in the post season was only the beginning. He gets flustered too easily and deliberate when facing any kind of trouble. He thinks too much. They're going to have to make a trade for a pitcher with this rotation. Only guy you can rely on is Sevy. CC is their next best pitcher bc Tanaka and Montgomery is out. CC hasn't been bad but he is getting old and doesn't give you more than 5+ innings most of the time.

Yanks split a good hitting team and here they come...

“Gray is terrible”
“He can’t pitch anywhere!”
“We got taken on that deal!”

Curious what team would field Yanks have if they traded all their top players when they go through funks for less than a season.

Yanks wouldn’t have Judge, Sanchez, Didi, Tanaka obvi, Sevy when he stunk it up for a year, Hicks for sure, hell Gardy for this pathetic start this year, hmmm

Hope none of you attend your kids’ sports games and most importantly, do you hold yourself to a this high standard?

I actually think the deal for Gray was pretty good. I don't see him as a #2. He's a quality 3/4 pitcher.

Is it possible for him to only pitch in road games? Is that possible?

It would be nice if they could but I doubt it. If you can't pitch at home then get out haha. I can't watch this guy over think every pitch and then blow the game up. He's been a huge disappointment. I had high hopes because he's pretty young and had good numbers in Oakland. He sucks though.
