Indians just extended Carrasco so I imagine the other pitchers are pretty available.

The Indians must have some kind of dirt on Carrasco. His deal was an absolute steal.

I think you're grossly underestimating the value of a consistent, proven ace without a lot of mileage on his arm.

Just have a feeling the Yankees have a blank check ready for one of Machado or Harper and are just trying to sort out their other issues first. I think ideal scenario was to get Corbin at a decent price, not have to trade Miggy for pitching, and maybe bring in Harper to platoon 1b/of/dh. Now for some reason I don't think Miggy is off the table and it might be a Machado/Kluber or Bumgarner offseason which I'm totally cool with. Just going to be interesting to see what direction we go and what is the first domino to fall.

From reading all the updates from today it feels like Harper will land on the Yankees' porch.

...Of course his agent is Boras so it's gonna be tricky. But Harper should get a 10 year offer, that's no discussion.

Opt out included in the 7th or 8th year I would throw in there. The money shouldn't be a problem.

Get it done and get Machado before/after.

My apologies. I did not explain my thought, well enough. Basically what I am saying, there's no point to speculating because Sports Agent Scott Boras always gets Yankee GM Brian Cashman to overspend on his client.

I think we're signing Machado and trading for Kluber/Bauer, most likely Bauer. The Indians would be stupid to trade Kluber over Bauer. Kluber has an extra year of control, and he's a top 5 pitcher in baseball. I think if anything they're attempting to gather information by dropping Kluber's name. They want to see what kind of offers they get for Kluber. Then they're going to "change their mind" and ask for the same package for Bauer. I'm sure a couple of the teams that inquire about Kluber will also be willing to do it for Bauer, even if it's a slight overpay. It's a good marketing tactic.

I think the Yanks were always interested in one or the other for this upcoming season. Possibly both.

Then Stanton happened by chance and that has to have back burnered Harper. Sure, I'd rather have Harper but just seems so.

Machado seems like a guy the Yanks have wanted for a while. The emergence of Andujar blunts it, but only a very little bit. I think he's the target. Once Didi went down, makes it more of a thing, but I don't think the Yanks are going in on a guy for 6+ years based on Didi hurt this year. It makes the move easier to evaluate/live with for a year, that's all - where Machado plays SS, Andujar stays at 3b.

When Didi is healthy the following year, Yanks decide if the $ are worth the situation of Didi at SS, Machado at 3b and Andujar where? DH? LF? Traded?
