I hope KP takes next season off as well (maybe return for the final 10 games) If he spends all his time in the weight room and eating , dude Is going to be a monster.

I'd like to see KP go work with Louie Simmons for 3-6 months. He needs to lay down 20 lbs of solid muscle at least.

110% agree. KP needs to look like and train like Ganiss atanekumpo, instead of looking like a lean soccer player and yoga pants.

He’s never gonna do that. His brother says adding too much muscle will slow him down.

I think this guy’s family will be his downfall. Too many cooks in the kitchen and most are his family telling him what to do. Janis was a journeyman in Latvia. He’s not some basketball expert. The kid needs training and advice from real professionals with vast experience. If he continues down this route then he will never achieve anything.

Umm, Jānis did build himself a nice little (journeyman) career in Europe, after nobody in Latvia believed that he can play basketball at the pro level there. Maybe that's why he thinks he knows what is best for his brother, and teaches him to not listen to sceptics too much. After all, many "experts" in Latvia didn't believe Kristaps will amount to much in NBA too. But Jānis' experience can take KP only so far. He must look what other players do, what trainers are available there. Get the best training there can be. I just wonder maybe the Knicks seem to be ok with that american trainer KP has got? Or he chose to ignore club's stance on everything?

I think it's good Janis is involved, he should just be a little less involved

Louie Simmons for 3-6 months and Hakeem for 3-6 months. Louie routinely takes men, women, boys, girls from all disciplines, and makes them bigger by a little, stronger by a lot and faster and more explosive. You can't just add mass to add mass, but if you add mass to correct weaknesses (as Louie does with all his lifters), the end result is a much better and more durable athlete.

We really need KP to be a center. His speed and 3-point shot are designed to beat centers, not stretch 4s. His shot blocking and altering is best when he stays near the basket. He still can shoot over almost all the centers in the league. Imagine if he could back someone down and turn over either shoulder? He doesn't need a celebrity trainer, he needs a world class strength coach.

This injury is on the realgm message board already. For wishing the Knicks to shut down KP when he played better than expected. You don't need to add this to your individual karma, do you? :o :x

I wish I didn't feel it's true, but the guy on here who has the background seem fairly convinced and I think KP has surrounded himself not with the best trainers, but guys based on a "star rep" or his brothers. Unfortunately, I don't think it bodes well.

Also, I recall talking with my brother when KP was drafted and I said "It's our luck that he'll get hurt, then get hurt again, have a Bernard King, 'what if' sort of career"

Already half right on that gut feeling

Don't want to be right. Just a feeling.

hopefully that feeling is just that of a long suffering knick far who has become a pessimist based on the last 18 years

KP needs to take the whole year off next year. He can play the final 10 games and That’s it. Just spend he whole year turning yourself into a beast and be ready for 2019/2029

IF this injury happened at age 28, I would be hugely worried...otherwise, I think this is an EXCELLENT excuse of KP to continue his conditioning regimen. He knows where he's at, being the go-to guy and the grind of the NBA and how much further he needs to go.

The Knicks have wasted this by not going with an all-out youth movement immediately after he went down.

I agree. We should have waived/bought out a few guys right after the trade deadline.

True. That way it was easier to swallow the losses.

Is this the same trainer that KP was working with last season? I think we had a poster in here not long ago who pointed out how his previous work put undue strain on his knee, thus potentially leading to this injury.
