Honestly, I hope Kanter opts out and they let KOQ walk.

When you continue to keep very nice useful players around it's no wonder you can't tank as well as other teams.

But more than that, I want to just play young guys and keep as much cap space available as possible so that we can be big players in the free agent market in 2019,2020 and 2021 when there will be difference makers.

To me: Kanter and KOQ= David Lee in '08 AKA Nice player but not someone you pay/keep when your not even sniffing the playoffs.

Keep Noah as a rotation regular and great guy to have for the young guys. Maybe he even plays well enough to get some cap relief and a 2nd rounder or something...

This makes too much sense. We'll never do it. Nope. Nuh uh.

Don’t be surprised.

I know :banghead:

He better opt-in.

You don't want to give cap space to our FO, in a year we don't need ANY help.

He will opt-out. They will throw 100mil on Avery Bradley or Favors, sign some vets, and they will carry us to 7th pick, even without KP.

Play a year out with Kanter, Naoh will be stretched in 19/20, we will have a ton of space + healthy KP back. PO BABY!

Knicks are going to be trash next year. This ain't happening, Jeff getting fired is!
Oquinn will take a 1 year 15 mil deal. Then next year a team friendly deal.
Kanter will opt in and get traded.

this makes the most sense...it makes more sense than paying KOQ 10 million a year. Noah can be a 15-20 minute a night backup IMO.

Kinda like how Eli Apple is getting a fresh start with the giants new regime and coaching staff...once we fire Jeff hopefully we consider to bring back NOah before we extend KOQ to a contract we will regret (and i like kyle)

What about KOQ starting ($10m per), Noah backing him up, and Kanter elsewhere via opt-out?

Anyone else think how absurd it is that people are thinking of giving KOQ a 10 mill contract?

I'd rather do that than stretch his last 2 years over 5, but I'm not sure if I like this more than just eating his contract for 2 more years

Yeah, if they stretch him september 1st, its gonna be just his last year.

I mean, it all depends on what there plans are for 19/20 cap space. We gonna have a lot with Kanter and Noah off the books.

Yes. If we were a playoff team, we'd need him. But what's the point of paying a backup center that much money when we're just going to suck again.

What does that have to do with anything? Taking the term lifer too literal.

There is nothing to gain by stretching him.

If you can’t buy him out then ride him out. He’s washed up, but the reward for patience is much greater here.

not sure about salary, but this is what i am generally hoping for. keep KOQ for cheap, let noah play 2nd string, kanter walks. have enjoyed kanter's time here as a team guy and a producer during our winning stretch, but he makes very little sense in the team's plans

His money's just gonna sit on our cap regardless, and he could probably play 15 mpg

what if that was explored and there were no takers?
