Kyle O'Quinn is from NYC, how's that working out? Clear some space. Get younger, cheaper...the Knicks need 2 huge pieces. Then and only then can they sign bench guys. No more Tim Hardaway Jr contracts.

Kyle was a good signing. I agree with the rest but...Kyle worked out well for us...basically.

Kanter and KOQ both need to be gone. Resign Kornet and bring in a legit PF.

Of course this is if we want to be competitive which I don't really recommend.

I’d love to get Jeramy Grant on a decent contract if he could be had for cheap.

Shouldn't this be merged with the "2018 Offseason" thread?

Watching Luke makes me not care about Kyle. Make sure we bring him back along with Hicks.

Trade Timmy for a late first. (Maybe Utah likes him off their bench for #21)

Trade Lee for a future protected 1st(a 2nd)

Mend **** with Noah.

Let Kanter and Kyle walk.

We are staying at #9 but I think we get lucky in this draft and Mikal falls to us. So we can go Mikal(9), Robert Williams(21) and Tony Carr(37).

KP/Kornet/Noah
RW/Thomas/Hicks
Mikal/Williams
Frank/Dotson/Baker
Trey/Muddy/Carr

We have 1 spot open. That’s called a camp invite. Find another big to help cover KP being out. I would prefer some one who can play both wing spots though since Troy can play PF too(small ball).

I do not want to give out any money this year. I’m stingy in summer 2018.

If you want Williams, you are gonna have to take him with #9, no way he drops to 21

Basically just tank with young players. Its probably our best option for next season.

Only 25 yrs old or younger

Oquinn is on the bubble.

Let's get this Poppin

C-Kanter/Oquinn
PF-KP/ Kornet/Hicks
SF-Hardaway /Williams/Nigel Hayes
SG-Frank/Baker/Dotson
PG-Burke/Mudiay

1st Rd pick
2nd Rd pick

Hopefully we can draft 2 rotation players

A long Wing and a long Big would be awesome

Is Kornet a 4 or 5?

Hayes and Hicks hopefully can be upgraded with a cheap young vet

No more old guys, more Burkes and Williams.

Would you guys be ok with a team like this? With a chance to nab RJ or Reddish next year?

there are always "old guys." they are necessary. you don't want lord of the flies.

milwaukee has had zaza, delfino, sessions, and jason terry collecting a check. phoenix brought in tyson chandler at a premium specifically to mentor, had PJ tucker for the wings. those things are important to rebuilds.

Reading the tea leaves I'd guess with the Willy trade they had internal plans on bringing Kanter back unless he gets blown away by someone else.

hardaway is a young vet still trying to find his way, but is probably a good culture guy at this point.

kanter is def a culture guy, but i don't know if he'll be back. KO would be crazy not to opt out, and they might let him walk too.

lance and lee are still under contract. problem with lee is he requires PT. we need to be replacing him with a tim or dotson. lance seems to handle being on the bench just fine. he's not in anyone's way.

In what way was it a good signing? Similar to Jared Jeffries...the Knicks sign these secondary and tertiary guys which do only ONE thing:

1. They prevent the Knicks from having a top 1-3 pick and settle 7-10 slot.

In 2008, the Knicks do just well enough to miss Russell Westbrook. They draft Dalino Gallinari.

In 2009, the Knicks do just well enough to miss Stephon Curry. They draft Jordan Hill.

Get my point?

Y'know those old dudes with the hand held metal detector combing the beach looking for gold or something valuable? That's the Knicks. When in reality, the guy should take a good look at where his efforts would best suit him...not Coney Island.

Knicks are bad enough that they could draft any BPA, but clearly the positions that need shoring up are:

SF and PF

Being that the NBA is becoming more positionless, but especially between 2/3 and 3/4, Knicks could probably get two SF's, one more "guard like" and one more "PF" like.

Anyway, team is 3 years away still, so not like they have to reach for a SF.

But the current SF/PF rotation is this:
LFT, Beasley, Hicks, CLee or THJr.
One all defense no offense and one all offense, not much defense 3/4 guys, Hicks, who is raw, and a pair of guards who get played at SF.

Oh, and Williams.

Knicks need a 4 so KP can play 5. Ideally, they then get a real 3. Or vice versa

You're really reaching here dude. Kyle was signed for peanuts. He played well for us in his limited role and decent enough in his expanded role this year. He didn't keep us from the top pick or whatever you're implying. That's ridiculous. KP and early season Timmy/Kanter etc kept us from the top 3.

We no longer need him. I wouldn't mind him back for 7mil or so max. Good locker room guy. Allegedly he's looking to win. Most likely elsewhere. I'd rather him than Kanter...that's for sure.
