Pick your coach! I've left out guys like JVG and Wright that are no longer in the running but "Other" should include those not yet involved. Could it happen this week?

Bring back Jeff please. Frank wouldn’t have been able to accomplish that without him clearly.

a combination of that and I don't think they want to pay him as much as they are paying him when they plan on trying to lose for a couple more years...

Those who think Bud is overrated and not worth the hype would have a hard time arguing for any of the candidates out there. If Bud isn't worth it, why is Fizdale or Stackhouse? Any of the Spurs assistants like Udoka or Messina? Why them over Bud? Any coach not named Pop can pretty much be criticized one way or another (maybe not Stevens).

We have to hire someone, there has to be a coach in place.

If KP is considered a star then Milsap and Horford are stars too.

You guys are overrating this roster and are setting the scene for some bull moving forward.

I can see it now:

We hire Bud

Playoff talks start

We still suck and people can’t figure out why

We fire Bud after a few years of the same

Greenie I dont understand your position on this. Bud or no Bud we suck. However he comes from a good organization and has shown ability to lay the ground work for team defense and team offense. NO one is overrating this roster. Did someone say we will win games with Bud? Im lost.

Greenie got all excited and bothered when I asked who her coaching choice was, with "I already said it". Like I'm going to remember 100 pages of opinions.

Stackhouse is a great choice. I don't get you not wanting Bud because "You wanted him 2 years ago" and now he's a retread.

He's a good choice. He's proven what Stackhouse hasn't yet.

Stackhouse was my clear #1 until Bud became available. If they want a pick for Bud, kick bricks, pick Stackhouse.

Oh, and for everyone, lets make this "the reading is fundamental" coach search thread.

No one is saying coach Bud took a bad team or even a mediocre team and made it great. He took a good team and maximized it's potential.

That's all you can ask a coach to do. Maximize your roster. Oh, and be good at development, if you are a developing team. I think coach Bud can do development. Sure looks like Stackhouse can.

Bud
Stackhouse
Blatt (with reservations)
Fizdale

After that, I'm less sure. Other Spurs guy.

Messina or Hammond if they are realistic.

Makes sense MP. However he can develop the players no? Im lost as to why he would want to leave for here? We're in the same position.

He's the best available coach and anyone saying otherwise is wrong. Its okay to prefer another coach but Bud chits on every candidate in my opinion. Opinions vary because of direction and whether or not he and the front office can co exist but he's the best coach available period.

He's everything Blatt provides, without the black mark with Lebron.

He's everything Fiz provides, without the Gasol drama.

He's everything Stack provides, but with actual NBA experience.

Not seeing a problem here.

I think it's because they cut him out of the player decisions. They are going to strip it bare. We have promising young talent and are not trying to be like the Sixers. Apparently...Atlanta is trying to lose. He's not down with that.

That's all I could get from the article.

I think the front office was made he was coaching to win the last few games and they don't want him to win again for the foreseeable future. The knicks suck but Perry/Mills have made it clear that want to build and wherever that takes them it takes them.

There are multiple guys on this list I'd be comfortable with. Probably would still lean Stack because he could really grow with the team. As it currently stands though, Bud is the best coach on the list. I wouldn't be upset with any of the first five on that list.

The Knicks have conducted a pretty solid search so far. I'm very interested to see who we land this plane with.
