Measurements hold no weight on how I view a basketball player

Once again, based on the players I praise clearly you can see I'm not going by a players wingspan and vertical to determine if they are going to be a good player. I like guys that are good at the game of basketball, point blank. SGA is one of them. Jokic is one of them. Don't care for Westbrook, don't care for Frank. So you would draft a stud 5'1 PG if he can drop buckets like steph huh...
got ya...

Going to ignore that I've been saying excluding height over and over and over and over?As much as you do this quoting me and saying bull about my post, you entertain me a lot. Good guy you are

As easy as some of you will say "I'd take 'X' EASILY..." it's not so easy. For one thing, Curry has won and outside of Defense, he has taken oven games and lead the way. On the flip side, Sexton has shown his one weakness (Perimeter shooting) is overblown when he shot well in later games.
We over criticized DSJ & Mitchell too...well not me, I had DSJ high in my Draft list (KT/FOE)!

but DSJ looks questionable tho. i wouldn't have a ticker tape parade oveer him just yet.
not saying he won't be great, but there are a lot of things that concern me. he got a lot of "me" stats in an extended garbage time season. i hate his shooting and shot selection. he can pass, but doesn't make great decisions with the ball. defense is a minus, putting it nicely. could be fool's gold like brandon jennings.

6'9.5 my bad
Dude definitely isn't undersized for a PF now
Are you trying to argue that he isn't short for his position? Cause he is. That's just a fact
He makes up for it somewhat with athleticism, but I wouldn't take him with our pick

why do you think Avery Bradley and Tony Allen were such good defenders for there position? It's not because of there height (there short for there positions. They aren't tall at all. They have elite wingspan combined with good defensive IQ's.
Why is draymond green such an impact defender? Not because he's 6'7...he has a 7'2 wingspan which allows him to contest shots along with his high BBIQ.
HEZI wrote:What about quickness, lateral movement, timing, instincts, reaction? Do ANY of these things matter? If not then why aren't we playing 5 centers on a team and just building a team full of tall giants?
What matters more when you want a guy to pressure the ball up the floor? Wingspan? Is the reason that Porzingis can't guard the perimeter a lack of wingspan? What about getting through screens, is it easier for a guy that's 5'10" to get around a pick or a guy that's 6'11"? If height doesn't matter.
Wingspan matters in certain situations but not all. Strength can be an advantage in the post, quickness and lateral movement can be an advantage on the perimeter, verticality can be an advantage in the paint, fast hands and quick reactions and instincts can be an advantage when digging for steals, so on and so on. Like I said, too much is placed on wingspan. There is a reason the combine does way more drills than just having guys come in for height, weight and wingspan. They do a whole lot more to test guys. Nobody seems to care about any of that though, it's only height and wingspan.

What's Russ wingspan? He's big for a pg, his defense sucks. What was Rose wingspan? His defense sucks. Do you really think guys are a good or bad defender because their wingspan? So know defensive awareness or effort play any part of how good a guy defense is? It's solely wingspan?
Last time I'll say this...I like guys based on how they play basketball. Height matters. All that other stuff is irrelevant to me. A good defender is going to be a good defender, long arms or not. KD has long arms and was horrendous on defense coming into the league. If you're good at something, you're good. If you suck, you suck. A long arm or a high vertical isn't going to make you great. Stromilw Swift was terrible at basketball, what was his vertical? What are Steph's measurements?
Kinglee wrote:It's foolish to say "I'm not taking ___ because his wingspan isnt what I expected". Like seriously...
